Motivational Monday…What Lemons?

One more holiday before we wake up to 2022.   I hope that everyone’s Christmas went as they hoped.

The past two years have called for us to make adjustments and do something with the lemons we’ve been given.

The Lemon…

Our neighbor was not able to be with their family here in town because a family member contracted the virus. (They are doing fine, no fever)

Even though they had just seen them a few nights earlier, they spent Christmas Day depressed because they were not going to be with them. We offered to bring over cookies and other goodies to them but they passed. We invited them to join us at our family gathering, but they declined.

The Glass of Lemonade…

While ours is not the only family to have been impacted, we did have a few illnesses this week.  We had  2 cases of the flu and one virus (mild with no fever.)

 Everyone is fine and mending.

Of course, we were all disappointed but we still had a good time yesterday.  We pushed back some of the activities we’d planned and will all get together after the first of the year.

Life is about learning to make adjustments and side steps on the path we’re taking. When we come upon a bump in the road we push through... or not.

We all have the choice when life throws lemons at us. I don’t know about you, but I’d rather add some sugar and water and have a nice glass of lemonade, rather than suck on sour lemons.

Grant Schneider what appears to be going around is the lighter strain...no fever and a scratchy or sore throat. Hope your daughter is ok.

This has been a couple years when I find myself quoting Clint Eastwood in the movie, Heartbreak Ridge.  "You gotta improvise, adapt and overcome."

I really like the quote by Patterson... just ignore that there is anything negative at all about adversities, just use those challenges as opportunities to have fun with Kathy Streib .

We were very lucky to be able to return to a "normal" Christmas for us....Christmas Eve with children and grandbabies. I know a few people who had to delay their celebration. Always better to be safe.

Taking the sour and making something sweet out of it is an acquired skill.  It needs nuturuing and practice, just like any other skill.  There is no magical thing that happens around us to spare us disappointment.  We need to pro-actively dig ourselves out and see the positive.
