Historic Metairie Cemetery, Great Place to visit...New Orleans

By

Metairie Lawn Cemetery is so Historic

The Cemetery was a racetrack in 1838. It became a Confederate Camp in April of 1862 during the Civil Ware. After the Civil War it became homes for the dead. So much work of Art in the Tombs.

The owners of second homes should bring friends and families to visit this area as it is so different that other places in the United States. There are other places to visit as well. People owning second homes in New Orleans can have so many historic places to visit along with so many Fests....

I like to go to so many places to take photos and bring Friends to see fantastic places that are highly historic.

Those are some very cool pictures and I would love to visit that cemetery.  There is so much history there.  Thank you for all of the great pictures.

I may be morbid but I love visiting cemeteries. In Houston I and a friend of mine would bring a sack lunch and eat in the Jewish cemetery on Waugh Drive. We did not know we were not allowed in there because we were not Jewish. We were not being disrespectful. It was just a beautiful peaceful place. We stopped doing that when we learned we could not. Apologies.

The cemetery structures in New Orleans are unique, Eric.   I know of no other cemetery that has anything quite like them.
