The Right To Write. . .

The Right

To Write. . .

I have enjoyed the writings and storytelling of author David Sedaris for quite some time.  I even mentioned him in an ActiveRain challenge post earlier this year.  He has a style that is uniquely his but admits to moments of hyperbole as he seems accurately “captured” in this quote:

“Do I exaggerate?

Boy, do I,

and I would do it more

if I could get away with it”.

Maybe more appropriate to this forum is the following quote I also appreciate:

“I like to reserve the right to write whatever I like”

David Sedaris

Maybe that quote sums up my posts this year.  Perhaps it does for each of us in any year. No matter the direction our AR experience takes, we find the path that works best for us. Market reports. Just listed or sold properties. Community spotlights or industry tips. This or that plus combinations of the two as well as some other information too. Regularly, occasionally or as the mood strikes.

We move forward. So long, 2021. Hello, 2022.

The photo in this post is one taken in and around the Pasadena and Arcadia area of the San Gabriel Valley a few years ago.

Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD - I can sometimes be reluctant to voice my likes/dislikes but there are those times "when what the hell" also enters the picture. The entire Sedaris family brings much to any table they gather (or gathered).

Jeffrey DiMuria 321.223.6253 Waves Realty - Happy 2022 to you as well.

Joan Cox - ditto.

Happy New Year to you Michael and count your blessings that yes you can write what ever you want.... as you know I came from a Communist Country where you could not say or write what ever you wanted... and let me tell you I am grateful every day for being able to write what I want... never the less I am concerned there is a shift.... hope it will not be in my life time...Endre

Kathy Streib - thank you very much.  I appreciate it.

Endre Barath, Jr. - life involves a never-ending set of shifts. Some incredibly large (almost like a boom). others that are subtle and some which are even less obvious.  We continue to adjust, adapt and at times revolt.  Hoping 2022 brings you (and Diane) continued happiness in what you do and how you do it.

Hi Michael!

I believe that wherever you find this quote, my mother-in-law's picture is beside it!

We all joke about her embellishments - or should I say, the level of them!

And, yes, we are so blessed to write what we feel and our blogs are all so independent. I much prefer reading the ones that the author's personality shows through - just like yours.

I remember so many callers (back when AR was getting a lot of SEO), would say, "I feel like I know you already!" Those comments really inspired me to continue sharing personal topics on my blog.

Debe Maxwell, CRS - isn't optimization of any kind really about connection?   It works differently between people and sometimes even in our own mind as variables combine,

We move forward, and forward is a pace. The latter has been my reminder for years now when injuries set me back on my running journey. I don't have to be the fastest, or run the longest or most often, just as long as I do. Blogging is a similar journey. When I was forcing it, it wasn't nearly as enjoyable than the rhythm I've found now - mostly when the mood strikes as long it strikes a couple times a week. It's progress, it's forward. And forward is a pace.

Happy new year Michael!

Happy New year Michael Jacobs,

Love this post! I appreciate the quote " I like to reserve the right to write whatever I like." It can take you down so many paths which your posts tend to do.

Thanks for your musings, Michael Jacobs.

I thought that you might be amused by this photo of some deer I took while walking in a neighborhood in Cambria, Ca. a few weeks ago.

In the background is a sign for a local real estate agent.

John Juarez - thank you for sharing that photo - do you think the deer were hunting or simply lookie-loos?  Cambria is such a great place to visit.  I was there in May of 2021.
