There was an article in Realty Times this morning about a real estate company that is differentiating itself by featuring not only used inventory from the MLS on its website, but also all of the new construction that they can find. The service is part of HER Real Living and their website now features a New Construction feature as one of the boxes that you can click to find a home. The feature addition is great for the real estate company because it can be used to differentiate from the competition. I am sure local builders enjoy the exposure as well.
So how does this translate to us? Well, you can easily duplicate the feature on your own site and possibly add another source of revenue in the process. Contact local builders and solicit their cooperation to market their property on your site. Get their floor plan data as well as descriptors of their master plan. You may even consider soliciting them to pay you for banner or feature advertising of their units on your site.
Anyway, using Google Maps and a few other API's, you could easily incorporate a find new construction feature into your website so that you could offer your visitors access to both used and new inventory in the area. It may take a little web work but it would add another unique feature to your website.
