Home Buyers, Which Is Right For You, An Attached Or Detached Garage?

With all the decisions on your mind when searching for a home, have you thought about if you want a garage and should it be an attached or a detached garage?

Convenience is what most people think about with an attached garage, especially in bad weather. It's easier to access than a detached one. Another consideration that buyers like is that it makes the house appear larger, which some think makes it look more impressive from the outside.

A detached garage may be your preference because it has less chance of potentially harmful gas emissions. Or maybe you use it to work with power machinery and the noise level is too much for the family's comfort.

Whether it's an attached garage or detached, you may feel garage parking keeps your vehicles more secure, and protects them from the outdoor elements. And, of course the storage benefits.

No garage? You may feel it's just a place to store "stuff" and that just becomes clutter, and you're not a collector. If you have yard space, a shed may help for storage. Of course, you can rent a storage space, or you can get a car cover to protect your car from the elements.

Bottom Line: The choice is yours. When you're ready to look for a Long Island home with an attached garage, a detached or no garage, Call our Cell: 631-805-4400 so we start the journey with you.

Good morning! There are definitely options for a garage. We wound up with an attached garage, a shed and a detached workshop. It all works!

Having a garage is very useful whether it is attached or detached.  For me, having it attached is certainly most convenient.

Hello Sheila and Larry - decision-making is definitely a part of the home buying process.   Dreams and wishes are big parts of it but it is the reality of the market which often becomes apparent.  And most relevant.  Compromise usually becomes the biggest factor.

Good morning, Sheila and Larry... very few homes here are built with detached garages. Most are attached. When we see detached garages it's mostly older homes on larger lots built before garages were typical and where a homeowner has added a detached garage.

Happy Monday Sheila and Larry, I would have to say always a garage but I always had a garage for my car even when I was 16.
