Working From Home Today and

I had a recruiting call I just love them. Usually I am off the phone very quickly and they annoy me flattery me briefly but not much . This person was just interesting, he set a small spark of interest not enough to set a fire as I am very happy where I am. We knew many of the same people his father in law whom he had never met was a very close friend and had passed away many years ago and was missed by many because he was such an awesome person . The conversation flowed at that point talking of days gone by when Real Estate was so much fun, so much more social than it is today.  You had to have lived it to understand.

Questions, questions asking me questions and I answered I am comfortable with where and who I am.  I do not have to be a top producer I just have to do the best for my clients . I have a select clientele and they are special. I do not have a revolving door base of clients. I enjoy my clients and have a very personal relationship with them and am never too busy to chat with them. If they would rather text that is fine too. Day night whenever they need me .We also had a long conversation about blogging.

Earlier today I had a scam caller one of those calls that make you wish you had not answered your phone calls. That was a good bye have a nice day do not call me again .  When the phone rings  you never know who will be on the other end . Be careful of these scammers they are out there in full force right now even in text messages

I made a banana bread I think I put in a tablespoon of baking powder instead of a teaspoon maybe two as  a friend called and I lost count and the bread rose too high and spilled over had to take it out of the oven take some of the batter out wipe out the oven .What a mess. That never happened to me before

Plus tomorrow evening we are expecting a snow storm.

Hannah I have been working from home for the past 15+ years nothing new, now it is trending with the Pandemic:) Be careful they charm you... I had charmed calls for the past 15 years or more, the only reason to leave a Broker is if they are not treating you right...but that is just my two cents...Endre

Endre Barath, Jr. Oh, I agree 199% no fire was lit here. Slightly flattered, but I am happy with who and where I am.  That is my two cents and all together we have four cents  LOL

Hi Hannah - I love the scam callers that want to lend my business money sight unseen.  I could not get him off the phone.

Hello Hannah - kitchen mishaps are well-known to me whenever I enter that room.  Mix ups of all kinds are much more common than correctly mixing ingredients.

It sounds like you gave them more time on the phone than I would have, haha.  Sorry to hear about your banana bread but that answers the question I had about why it looked like the oven was on fire, haha.

Good morning Hannah. I do not answer the phone if I do not recognize the number. It is a luxury of retirement. When active, all calls were answered promptly. A friend of mine answers all calls and I pity the spam caller who gets him. He will talk on and on until they hang up! Enjoy your day.

Good morning, Hannah... I've been working from home since 1999... so it's just a normal day for me to be at home if I'm not out with clients or at the office for a meeting. I get at least three recruiting calls each week... these days the principals never call... they have some assistant call and they all use the exact same script. My answer to each is also always exactly the same-- that if their principal is so interested in me I suggest he/she call me directly. Interestingly, not one has ever done so.

Nina Hollander, Broker I love working at home, I get so much more done at home than I do at the office always have  except when I had young children at home then the office was a much smarter place to get work done .  Have a wonderful day

The calls that make me roll my eyes are the ones where they want to improve my social media results. The last time I was on one of those calls, the caller said something snarky like, "Well, it seems Kat has it all figured out!"  It wasn't a compliment - he was annoyed I wasn't interested. Made me laugh.

They are persistent Kat Palmiotti  little buggers  are they not and you think since they are trying to get business from you they would learn some manners .  :-)   have a great day

Hello Hannah, I know that phone can create a mess while you are trying to bake and mess up how many cups of flours you put in the bowl.  It happens!

Hannah, I had a KW lead email (several times) and wanted to know why I want to be a independent broker.    I have no reason to join a company and pay them commission when I AM the broker.    Sad to hear about your bread!

Joan Cox  The conversation was nice because we knew the same people, but, I am happy with where and who I am and made that clear. The banana bread did not turn out as planned so disappointed, but not a failure  - Have a great day

Hello Miss Hannah Williams

I am with Endre, I have always worked from home even when I was associated with a brokerage.  I love it! I continue to receive recruiting efforts in various forms. No thank you.  I love flying solo.  I've been a passenger and it did not work well for me mainly because I did not like the way the driver handled the road.

Now, about that banana bread - how did it taste?

Kathleen Daniels, Probate & Trust Specialist  Like the way you worded that and I said that in so many words - HOMESTARR -

Banana Bread : I did do a great job of saving it. I put so many cashews ,walnuts, raisins and chocolate chips in it it would be hard not to like it . Not my best but tasty for sure

Hannah I love those recruiting calls.  Rarely do they offer any real reason for me to leave where I am to join them.  In the end my volume depends on me.  My clients do business with me, not the company.  So unless I become unhappy with where I am, the conversation most of the time is a waste of time.

We too are  happy with where we are - and it varies. This past year, we took a breather and didn't get into the frenzy so many other agents experienced. Been there, done that.  Now, we want to super service our select group of clients and referral clients.  With that said, we are gearing up to have a productive 2022.

Thank you Hannah. I'll be working from home. I've been working from home for a very long time and like you I don't need to be a top producer.

I'll be happy to be home with a snow day snuggling my pup.

Hi Hannah- I have to laugh because I remember my mother made brownies once and they were beautiful. They smelled so good too. However, someone called and distracted her and she ended up putting a cup of salt in the bowl instead of a cup of sugar.

Jan 06, 2022 07:54 PM

Kathy Streib That is so funny, but not really, only because it had to be thrown away. I am, however ,eating the banana bread as we speak and it is good . Think I used 4 bananas instead of 3 and with all the mess it turn out pretty good. Don't think I would do it again unless I purchased one of those small tin baking pans and made a small bread  with the large one

Good morning Hannah.  There is so much to this story.  I have been working from home for at least 5 years but probably more.  I would not change it at all. My Broker is the best!

I have had the same mishaps recently with baking, trying to figure out what I did wrong when I was doubling some of the ingredients and tripling the others.  With all of the busyness of today, it is understandable.

I love your saying There is no reason to jump ship if it is not on fire!

One tip on banana nut bread - I freeze the bananas that are getting overly ripe throughout the year. They make the best bread and I always add more than the recipe calls for.  For the longest time, I didn't know how much it did call for, I just dumped my bag of bananas from the freezer bag into the mix.  It always turns out the best that way!

Brenda J. Andrew, Actually it was the best banana bread . I thought at first it wasn't, but it was very moist.  I think I put too many bananas in and baking powder . Whatever I did it was really good . Plus, I went a little overboard on the extra nuts, chips and raisins .  I really like working from home, I do get so much more done . I do also like going to the office occasionally  :-)
