Making the Youtube Leap in 2022!
A few days ago, out of the blue, I got a call from Lynn Friedman, with whom I had last spoken years ago. We were initially connected on Active Rain, and to the uninitiated, this is one of the true joys of the platform --- the ability to make a connection across the country even though you may not share an immediate business need. This real estate fast track can fill a social and professional void that can often be lacking in our respective industries. Our conversation lasted longer than we both expected, I'm sure, but it was a treasure of good information and ideas and at the end of it, I realized we both especially connected on the notion that in our lines of work, it's vital to invest in personal development and NOT get set in our ways, regardless of age, previous accomplishment and personal proclivities.
In that spirit, I told her that I had a 2022 commitment to building a new Youtube channel. While I have never shied away from the making videos itself, and that tends to be the deterrent for most, I somehow never invested the time and energy into forging a brand, adhering to a schedule and then working to promote its mortgage-related content.
So here goes:
I think with any new venture, you face the prospect that you could fail, and that's yet another point of deliberation. Yes, I could invest a lot of work into this channel and get no views, no subscribers and no actionable leads. And almost 20 years into my career, I'll admit, flopping publicly is not high on the list of things I'd like to do next.
So with that, I am embedding above my most recent edition of "Rock and Real Estate." A channel dedicated to explaining the mortgage process to both outsiders and insiders, providing valuable tips on how to navigate our waters and, while we're at it together, hopefully including a few cool and fun guitar riffs, courtesy of my past life as a rock guitarist. Now that's a whole other story and maybe Lynn and I will cover that on our next conversation...
In the meanwhile, many of you know firsthand what it takes to get a Youtube channel off the ground. So if you have a minute (or four...) please take a look and if inclined, give it a like or subscribe. I'd love some Active Rain support at this most tenuous point in my journey!
Fire!
