Garwood has a lot of power for a little town! Located in between the considerably bigger cities of Cranford and Westfield, the town of Garwood is less than one square mile in size and has just over 4,000 residents. In Garwood, New Jersey, commuters appreciate the town's rail station and bus stop for NJ Transit commuters. It’s also just a skip, hop, and jump from Parkway entrances. Garwood's Lincoln School, which serves students in kindergarten through eighth grade, fosters a close-knit area where everyone knows and looks out for each other. The public high school in Clark, where students start in 9th grade, is Arthur L. Johnson High School. The township is broadly divided in half by the rails of the Raritan Valley Line of NJ Transit, which was initially constructed as a component of the Jersey Central railroad. The majority of the streets on the northern side of the railroad are numbered. However, on the southern side of Garwood, the majority of the roads are titled after trees. Months such as June, September, and May are the most comfortable in Garwood, while months like January and February are the least agreeable. Garwood is well-served by excellent restaurants, stores, and other modern conveniences despite its small size. In addition to two big public parks, a vintage bowling alley, and an "escape room" establishment, there is entertainment to be had in the area. Garwood isn't a town to ignore on the map, either, thanks to annual events like the well-known Garwood Rocks music festival.

Nomahegan Park is 7 minutes away from Garwood and can be reached by taking Riverside Drive. The park is located 2.3 miles north of the area. Rahway River Parkway is a 4-minute drive via South Avenue and Lincoln Avenue and can be found 1.5 miles south of the community. Mindowaskin Park is accessible in 5 minutes via NJ-28 and sits 1.5 miles west of Garwood.
