Stanislaus County Day Trippin' - Monterey/Carmel

One of the great things about living here in Stanislaus county in the Central Valley of California is the location.  We are right in the middle of the northern part of the state.  To the east are the Sierra Nevada Mountains and to the west is the Coast Range and the Pacific Ocean.

In my previous post, Stanislaus County Day Trippin' Part 1,  I shared about our latest trip to the Monterey/Carmel area.  This post is about the great dinner we had that day.

We have been to many great restaurants in the area.  Some of our favorites are Old Fisherman's Grotto and the Crown and Anchor in Monterey.   In Carmel a couple of our favorites are Flying Fish Grill and A.W. Shucks Cocktail and Oyster Bar. Monterey's Fish House

On this trip to Monterey we decided to try out Monterey's Fish House.  We have driven by it many times on our trips to Monterey and always said we should try it but had never made it. We tend to return to some of the same places that we had been to before.  This time we made it!  And we are so glad we did!

Monterey's Fish HouseMy wife had the Artichoke Seafood Linguine. It was in a delicious lite cream sauce with lots of fresh seafood and fresh artichoke hearts.  (The artichoke capital of the world is just up the road in Castroville.)  I had the Sicilian Holiday Pasta.  It was similar to Cippino but over linguine.  It had fresh fish, clams, mussels, calamari and octopus all in a tomato based broth.

The service was exceptional.  We got there early Monterey's Fish Houseon a Thursday night so we didn't have to wait at all but there were people waiting when we left.  Even with the full house we never had to wait for more than a couple minutes for anything.  We will definitely go back! If you are ever in the Monterey/Carmel area and looking for a great place to eat we highly recommend Monterey's Fish House.

They are located at:                                                  2114 Del Monte Ave, Monterey, CA 93940            Ph. 831-373-4647

Hi Ron and Alexandra Seigel our first time there.  Just too many good restaurants to pick from in that part of the world.

Hello Jim - it's nice to read part two of your day trippin' series.  Visiting a place you have long wanted is a good thing.  Having a good experience is even better.

Great shout out for the Monteray Fish House !  Post caught my eye because of having river rafted the Stanislaus a few times before times evolved.  Make it a great day.  M

Hi Mark Don McInnes, Sandpoint-Idaho are you from this area?  I don't think many people outside of Northern Ca know about the Stanislaus.
