Stanislaus County Day Trippin' - Monterey/Carmel
One of the great things about living here in Stanislaus county in the Central Valley of California is the location. We are right in the middle of the northern part of the state. To the east are the Sierra Nevada Mountains and to the west is the Coast Range and the Pacific Ocean.
In my previous post, Stanislaus County Day Trippin' Part 1, I shared about our latest trip to the Monterey/Carmel area. This post is about the great dinner we had that day.
We have been to many great restaurants in the area. Some of our favorites are Old Fisherman's Grotto and the Crown and Anchor in Monterey. In Carmel a couple of our favorites are Flying Fish Grill and A.W. Shucks Cocktail and Oyster Bar.
On this trip to Monterey we decided to try out Monterey's Fish House. We have driven by it many times on our trips to Monterey and always said we should try it but had never made it. We tend to return to some of the same places that we had been to before. This time we made it! And we are so glad we did!
My wife had the Artichoke Seafood Linguine. It was in a delicious lite cream sauce with lots of fresh seafood and fresh artichoke hearts. (The artichoke capital of the world is just up the road in Castroville.) I had the Sicilian Holiday Pasta. It was similar to Cippino but over linguine. It had fresh fish, clams, mussels, calamari and octopus all in a tomato based broth.
The service was exceptional. We got there early on a Thursday night so we didn't have to wait at all but there were people waiting when we left. Even with the full house we never had to wait for more than a couple minutes for anything. We will definitely go back! If you are ever in the Monterey/Carmel area and looking for a great place to eat we highly recommend Monterey's Fish House.
