Throwback Thursday…My UPS Man Likes It

One of my favorite staging consultations was with a seller who was every stager’s dream. When I walked in, he told me to tell him what he needed to do. 

 

He was eager to sell and open to suggestions. 

 

 

Only one thing…he’d just repainted his home and was not eager to paint again. I didn’t often ask sellers to repaint unless necessary. In 2008, money was an issue for many, however, my client had a bright chartreuse family room wall, next to a royal blue dining area, and bright yellow kitchen area. 

 

 

The two secondary bathrooms were in navy blue and deep red. 

 

When I mentioned painting the walls, his reply was…

“But my UPS man loves it!!!”

 

He’s still a favorite client of mine and the house did end up selling in a timely manner!!! 

 

 There are no absolutes when selling a house, are there!

Sheri Sperry - MCNE®  you know, I can still hear the UPS truck when it comes down the street!!!   I'm not sure he saw the bathroom colors but he loved the chartreuse.

well I guess we better starting asking our UPS guy!    There is a home on the market with pretty wild colors for most and unfortunately it's still on the market 3 or 4 months later - which is odd for our market.  They also came down in price quite a bit the last time I checked.

Kathy, you are right, back in 2008, everything made a difference, today, no worries about all that color, the buyer can paint just to win the bid!

Hi Kathy:

I wasn't sure what to expect when I read the title, but that's a great line.

I remember when we were house-hunting in MN and saw a house where EVERY room was a different bright color and many of the rooms had bright (e.g., orange, red, purple) shag carpet but not to match the paint. Truly eye-popping! We didn't buy it.

I listed a home once that had a different colored accent wall in every room.  I thought it would be a problem but we had multiple offers and the buyers that bought the home said they bought it because they really liked the accent walls.
