Friday Fun…A Favorite Gift

Often I read of gifts agents give to their buyers when they close on their new home and move in. I think it adds to your staying top of mind with your buyer.

The other day I was reminiscing about a glass bowl our agent gifted us on the first of several transactions we had with her.

I don’t even remember what it was filled with when she gave it to us, but it stayed with us for many more moves. It was often filled with potpourri and sometimes candy. But no matter what was in it, I always thought of her.

What about you?  What is your favorite closing gift you gave to a buyer?

Or what is a favorite gift you received from your agent when you bought a home?

Kathy, I usually know what the client wants during the transaction.   Sadly, it is a gift card to Home Depot or a furniture store.

We've given all kinds of different cool gifts to clients.  It's always fun to do and mainly they're focused around what they like, appreciate and would actually use.  Clients have given us many great gifts as well such as flowers, baskets, gift certificate to someplace fun etc etc

I filled a bowl with all of the things to make fantastic Margaritas, including some of our home grown Meyer's Lemons.  It went over well.  It was the perfect gift for the perfect client.

Kathy when I attend a Closing I bring a bottle of wine from one of our local wineries, and I tell my Borrowers when I give it to them, that I hope they "enjoy it with their first meal in their new home."

Brian England that was a practical gift and I'll bet they knew you would use it since you play a lot of tennis.

Wayne Martin I never gave any as a stager either.

Norma J. Elkins the welcome mat is a very practical gift!!!  It's one of those things you wish you had when you move in because of everyone coming to see you.

Nina Hollander, Broker  I love the idea of a wreath that reflects the client's personal interests. That takes a lot of thought.

Michael Jacobs I'll bet there are!!!!  Will your mind wander over there to ponder?

Roy Kelley I wonder if it's a regional thing?

LOL Joan Cox just like so many things these days, people want gift cards.

Anna Banana Kruchten CRS, Phoenix Broker I like the idea of finding something that the client likes and would use. And, of course one that will remind them of you.

Raymond Henson, eXp Realty that shows me that you put thought into it and you listened to what their likes might be.

Hi Laura Cerrano I totally agree. It shows you put thought into it.

Hi Kathy Streib - I personalize the gifts for my client.  I listen to what they might need or want and then I get it for them.  Sometimes, if it is an out-of-state buyer, I usually have the keys and I might stock the refrigerator and of course, have a bottle of champagne.  I close on a home on Monday.  My client is moving locally so I will bring an assortment of breakfast treats for them and their movers.  Every client is different.  This couple has become friends so we will see them many more times.

I used to give throw blankets with a thank you embroidered into the corner. I had a client who I had 5 transactions with and each of their young children had one of my blankets. It was really sweet Kathy. Happy Friday 🙂

I often gave gift cards to Home Depot or Lowe's as closing gifts.  I found when folks first move into their new home, these cards can be valuable.

We try to customize it to our clients. However, we have very nice ( expensive ) logo coffee mugs that we give special clients with a variety of local coffee beans. It goes over very well as we know they love good coffee.
