WHAT IS THE METAVERSE ?

Hi Buzz - just reading the comments I am thinking too this is very hard for me to wrap my head around.

Buzz Mackintosh I find all of this fascinating, intriguing, and confusing at the same time. If the money were "play money" like Monopoly, I would just see it as an online game.

The world has gone mad, so why not create a fictional world that people can be insane. Maybe we will be nicer to each other in the real world...lol

That video is pretty funny, Buzz. Quite a step back in time.

I'm still working on understanding the Metaverse! LOL.

Another great post from you, Buzz Mackintosh ; Thank you!  I am pleased to say that I am moving in a diametrically opposed direction from the masses and looking forward to the day when I can completely unplug from everything internet.

This is the new frontier and those of us in real estate should seek to stay on top of this trend where people are paying millions of dollars for "virtual real estate". I am meeting with one of the largest Metaverse Property companies next week that I was introduced to, so I can be prepared to sell some of that "land". My, how times have changed...

The CNBC article I referenced states that metaverse real estate sales reached $500 Million last year and is expected to double this year.

I thought the title of your Post should be, "What is the Metaverse? ... and who cares?"

The true is I have "Lake" front property in Meta for sale.

Buzz Mackintosh - looking back at the Today Show, Kathy C. may have sounded ditzy in 1995 but she really did figure it out quickly when she said, she'd be afraid of getting addicted! The way I see it, Metaverse is a combination of virtual reality, physical reality, and augmented reality! It could lead to creative innovation or creative destruction, depending on how you look at it and its consequences. FaceBook, ActiveRain, and other Social Media sites, can cause you to lose track of time, get depressed, feel empowered or powerless when the Internet goes out, get too involved in lives and lies, and spend too much time at night causing you to lose sleep! Hmmm..... it kind of reminds me of the old Outer Space and Twilight Zone shows that scared me to death!

I imagine the metaverse will start out as fun and they'll figure out a way to make it a necessity in life so we all need it and have to pay for it. I think it is funny to hear Katie Couric say she doesn't want the internet because we'll all be inundated and it is already too much. She was spot on with that one.

Guess I am sheltered too much.

I sincerely mean no disrespect, but this is just another "Shinny Object" directed to we in the industry and other consumers by Big Tech.

Heaven knows we have Facebook, Twitter, Tik Tok, Instagram, and a slew of other objects dangled by them to gain our attention.

Some possibly could be beneficial, but it just seems like a new craze comes out every so often to get our attention...... until it fizzles out.

We have too much going on out there with a severe shortage of inventory, sky high home prices, huge buyer demand, and now higher rates and inflation.

Personally, I'm just focusing on going back to the basics, and will use what works for me instead of jumping on every new bandwagon that comes along which usually doesn't last long until the next new "Shinny Object comes along.

Time to get back to real work people instead of chasing all the new fades!  Get off the computer, and work your tail off to get new listings, or work the buyers to the best you can while we face this inventory issue.

Personally, I'm focusing on getting loans closed for my agents that refer them to me regularly.  That's my Priority.

Just my opinion, and no disrespect intended.
