Wordless Wednesday…Just a Year Ago

It’s hard to believe that a year ago (2021) Houston and the rest of Texas experienced a winter storm the likes of which we rarely see.

Some research showed that Harris County, the county we live in, suffered the brunt of the freeze.

Yesterday and today, February 14 and 15 2022, we’ve had temperatures in the low 70’s. It’s hard to believe that in 2021, it began snowing late at night on the 14th. We were without power for two and one-half days but thankfully did not have any broken pipes.

I had to share this-Raffe “mowing” the snow!

We are thankful for milder weather in Maryland and some of the snow and ice has melted.

For a time, recently, it looked like Texas was again going to be blasted by below normal temperatures. Hopefully, you will not again suffer like 2021.

Kathy, last year's storm was scary, especially for an area that does not see that cold of weather.   We are getting 6-8" today, should start here soon.

Hello Kathy Streib - no snow here but we just had a nearly 20-degree shift in temps from yesterday to today.  You made cold, snow, and losing power a fun adventure.

Wayne Martin we've been enjoying warmer weather this week but you never know here.

Nina Hollander, Broker you have no idea. I remember dreading the thought of going to sleep because the house was so cold.

Ed Silva I'm all for any temps over 70!!!   My concern when we have bad weather is that we tend to lose power.

Brian England I saw that on the news!!!!  I was happy for him and just saw a short clip. I can see why everyone was so excited...though not exactly gold etiquette.

Michael Jacobs it does make you ponder, doesn't it.

Lawrence "Larry" & Sheila Agranoff. Cell: 631-805-4400 it's rare for us to have snow and that many days at or below freezing weather. We missed walking those days because we didn't want to drive on the icy streets.

faye schubert hurricanes come and go but there's a lot more prep.

Ron and Alexandra Seigel I saw on the news that your coast was going to get some cold weather.  The wind is what makes it feel especially cold.

Carol Williams heads rolled like bowling balls. Many had pipes that burst and the problem was aggravated because plumbers couldn't get parts.

Raymond Henson, eXp Realty we are!!! We just checked on a nest where we walk and the eggs should hatch any day now. We were concerned because mom started laying them the day before we had a freeze. We didn't know if she would keep laying.

George Souto our biggest concern was the electric grid but it held up a few weeks ago so fingers crossed.

Jeffrey DiMuria 321.223.6253 Waves Realty oh my gosh!  That might have required a lot of adult beverages. My niece did not lose power but she had her husband's family there. My brother had his inlaws at his house. If our power had not returned after the third day, we would have had to take our air mattress and head to my brother's.

Yikes Will Hamm please find someone else to shovel it.

Roy Kelley we liked it when it snowed in Leesburg, but not when it started melting.

John Juarez you're right. Around the first of February we had temps in the high teens.

You're right Joan Cox It's harder when you're not used to snow and freezing weather.

Kathleen Daniels, Probate & Trust Specialist honestly the hardest part was at night when temps in the house was in the low 50s. It wasn't comfortable sleeping. But yes, we made it into an adventure.   The dinner on the grill was actually good!!!

Winter weather is so unpredictable and another reason why we travel little after Thanksgiving, Kathy. Getting caught in a snow storm or blizzard are not on the preferred list, though it is pretty and fun for the little ones!

Thus far, Sacramento really hasn't had a freeze.  Usually, there are several overnights with temps in the lower 30s.  And, the daytime temperatures have been in the mid 70s recently.  It feels glorious, but we really need more rain.
