This is a supplementary blog post to help you create an effective Blog Signature. You can see the main post and video here "How to Create an Effective Blog Signature."
Now that you've gotten that far in creating your blog signature post, let's have a look at adding social media icons into it.
It can be somewhat tricky to find social media icons for download where you aren't required to give attribution or purchase the rights. There are sites though that make the icons available "free for commercial use without attribution."
Iconfinder.com is one such site, and this link will take you directly to a page where you can download icons that have no attribution requirement.
Iconmonstr.com is another site, and this link will go to a search results of social icons.
I have already downloaded a couple of sets to help expedite a means for you to get these into your signature quickly. All you would need to do is select one of the two rows below and then copy and paste! (square or circle, your choice... I set the color to gray when I downloaded. If you want a different color option, you'd have to go to one of the sites linked above and download the icons from there.)
After you have placed the icons into your blog signature, the next question you will ask yourself is: "Do I actually post on all these sites?" If the answer is NO to any of them, then DELETE the icon. Just because you have an account on one of the sites will not make it a good consequence when somebody clicks through and goes to your blank site. That's just frustrating! Don't do it. Remember, you are trying to make a new connection with somebody. You only want to link to your best landing pages.
After you have the icons in your signature, the next thing you'll need to do is to click on each icon and then use the "insert link" button to set the URL to your corresponding social media page.
And with that, you should be set for social media icons.
PS - You don't have to do social icons. You can use simple link text as well where you type out the name of the social site and then link to it. Now you have a choice!
Now, have you been thinking about making that needed update... that REFRESH of your blog signature? I know many have from the comments on the last signature how-to post. Well, how about some ActiveRain bonus points if you do the update? Now, that I have got your attention, stay tuned for the March challenge because that's what we'll be focusing on. Meanwhile, BEFORE you replace your old signature with a new one, make sure you take a SCREENSHOT and save the file of what the "Before" signature looked like. We'll be using that in the challenge. You can see this post and short video about how to do screenshots if you need a refresher.
