This blog post will explain the forms and documents that are needed to be sent to the IRS to get the lien released.
The first thing you need is IRS Form 14135. Along with this form, you need to send in the following documents to the IRS
- Copy of the lien that is on your property
- The sales contract, prove to the IRS this is a legitimate sale
- Copy of the title search
- The appraisal by the bank, also proves that this is a legitimate sale
- Show payoffs from liens that are ahead of the IRS. Now, speaking of this, when the IRS puts a lien on your property, it doesn't just jump to the front of the line. It is in order as to when they put the lien on the property and maybe behind other creditors
- Proposed settlement date. This shows the IRS that the proposed amount that you have on Form 14135 is correct
The IRS will receive whatever amount that is due them at the time of the sale.
