It's Spring and Soon the Juices will Start Flowing

In short order the temps will warm up in New England and the rites of Spring will have its impact on the critters.

While down enjoying a little warm weather the spring juices had already started on the southern wildlife.

We had seen a few peacocks and the blossoming of a peacocks tail along with its waving is done to impress the hens.

This young male fluffed up as a couple of hens approached and waved his plumage while turning to strut his stuff.  He didn't fare very well as they didn't even look.

I also saw a couple of blue herons, but their attraction seemed to have been a bit more productive .

Sometimes a little less can get a little more.

I remember taking the kids many times to a local farm with peacocks and how the males used to impress their future mates. They were so attractive!

Nina Hollander, Broker   They were so beautiful, and the area had to have at least 20 birds.  None of them showed any interest in each other.

Michael Jacobs   I don't know about strutting at this age, just enjoying the warmth.

Lawrence "Larry" & Sheila Agranoff. Cell: 631-805-4400   The males were not getting much attention on this day and there had to be at least 8 of them strutting

Hi Ed Silva - You just reminded me of the quail who will be starting their families soon. I love to see them running around the yard. Of course, all the birds will be building nests soon as well.  We came back from a long vacation one year and realized that there was a bird nest in our front door wreath.  There were eggs in it.  The door has glass and everytime we would walk by or open the door the mama would fly away.  I had to get creative and put cardboard to cover the glass.

Sheri Sperry - MCNE®   My wife has seasonal wreaths that she places on the front door and we have had birds nest there but it was an all-metal door so they did not get disturbed by anyone inside.

I was out working in my garden planting African Daisies I purchased from Lowe's yesterday.  I had to smile, when a pair of doves scampered out from beneath a couple bushes.  It's that time of year!

Hi Ed- When we lived in Delray Beach, there were dozens and dozens of peacocks in the area. They loved to strut their stuff  to the peahens in the breeding season. The other day we saw two hawks frolicking on the phone wires near the house.

Love the photos, Ed. Spring is certainly a time for many new beginnings, or attempts at them. Guess the game with the peahens is to keep the peacock guessing. The males are fun to watch when they perform.
