Pictured above are two well-known public figures in their own niches, Martha Stewart and Snoop Dogg.  Both have served time in jail.

Martha Helen Stewart is an American retail businesswoman, writer, and television personality. As founder of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, she gained success through a variety of business ventures, encompassing publishing, broadcasting, merchandising and e-commerce.Wikipedia

Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., known professionally as Snoop Dogg, is an American rapper, songwriter, media personality, actor, and entrepreneur. His fame dates to 1992 when he featured on Dr. Dre's debut solo single, "Deep Cover", and then on Dre's debut solo album, The Chronic.Wikipedia

The company that paid for their faces on their wine bottles is 19 crimes.  19 crimes is a California company whose wine is sourced from Australia.  They are owned by Treasury Wine Estates headquartered in Australia.  Treasury Wine Estates also owns some prestigious wine labels in Napa, like Beringer and Etude.

Each label has the criminal's face and the story of their crime on the back label. Why Australia? Their site refers to the time when the British loaded their criminals on a boat headed to Australia.  Not all who made the arduous trip, survived.

"The men featured on our wine labels are not those of fiction. They were flesh and blood. Criminals, artists and scholars. In history, they share a bond – receiving "punishment by transportation" for violation of one of 19 crimes and becoming the first settlers of a new nation."  And now, they have a woman also!

The wine reviews are favorable.  It falls in the category of affordable and easy to drink table wine akin to Yellow Tail, another Australian brand.  There are many wines in this category in the same price range in all the countries that produce wine.

We have not tried the wine, only read the reviews from independent critics who do not sell wine, nor are paid to review wines.

Would you buy it?

Does the brand appeal to you?

Would you buy it as a curiosity item to bring to a party?

We would appreciate hearing from your take on this brand.  We look forward to your impressions.

Wayne Martin yes, there are some outstanding wines around the same price from Italy, Chile and Argentina that major excellent wineries have invested in.  A

Nina Hollander, Broker we agree with you, we are not its target market either.  There is a label called Prisoner that I will not drink either, and it priced somewhere in the $60 range.  A

Hi Ron and Alexandra no I'm not attracted to the label by a long shot. And even more so after you mentioned Yellow Tail.  Now where was I !!   After reading Kat Palmiotti it would be pretty creep to hear their story.  I can see where some folks would like it as a party gig.....

The Snoop and Martha friendship has always intrigued me, they seem like an unlikely duo, but maybe not. Haha. I find the brand/branding curious, but if we knew the wine was really good, we might try it. But, I'd have to have a solid recommendation first.  Bernie finds it amusing, and knowing him, he might try it for that reason alone.

P.S. They could always turn into sauce wines. Hahaha. We do have a few of those thanks to Bernie's curious mind.

Anna Banana Kruchten CRS, Phoenix Broker yes creepy is the best word in my opinion. Somehow it also says, it is OK to do things wrong, after all you may end up getting a chunk of change on a wine label...A

Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD , I don't get it.  Obviously, I am not their target market!  And I would not use it for a sauce wine.  My sauce (white wine) is the same price and has 94 rating.  It has to be good to drink.  I once used a red wine that we did not like, for a dish and the meal tasted awful...  LOL

Martha and Snoop's friends/family might support it but not something I would buy Ron and Alexandra. Like Nina said, it is tasteless to sell something highlighting criminals, for me, there is nothing remotely appealing about that!

Hi Ron and Alexandra- I enjoy seeing the two in their commercials and I might buy the bottle to take to someone who has a fun sense of humor.

Funny. I have not seen this with their pictures on 19 Crimes bottles. They should have had a contest to see which one would sell the most with the winner earning a donation for their favorite charity.

Just for fun, I did purchase one of their bottles of wine for a holiday event. I didn't love it myself. If I remember correctly, you could scan the bottle and read about their crime. It was fun.

Hi Ron and Alexandra Seigel - I always appreciate your input on matters of wine.  I love the discussion on your post as well.

I don't drink a whole lot of wine but I do know what I like.  I buy wine to share with company, so I want to get a good bottle and will spend the money.  When not sure, I ask for a recommendation.

As for this brand, I might look at the display, but I would keep the cart moving right by it.  I am not impressed with the brand.

Carla Freund the words crime and Prisoner (another high end brand) repel me.  I remember Ron and I were asked to talk at a women's prison on relationships.  Just getting there was SO depressing and demeaning.  I cannot relate to it as a label.  A

I can understand that. I try to surround myself with positivity and the things you mentioned don't promote that. However, I'm sure you and Ron could do a video for the women's prison about positivity, meditation, etc. and make a big impact.
