How much money is needed to buy a house?

One of the questions I get asked all the time is how much money does a buyer need when buying a house? It really depends on the situation, the price of the house and what loan product they are going to use, so I got together with Shawn DeAngelo from Prosperity Home Mortgage to dismiss the myth, I need 20% to put down and get some of the facts. Watch the video for the answers. Let me know if you have any specific real estate related questions.

Hi Nick- What a nice video that you put together. And it's a great way to answer a question that many first-time home buyers would have.

Good morning, Nick... still amazed that so many people believe they need to put down 20% to purchase a home.

I don't remember the last time I worked with a home buyer who put down 20%. There are a lot of options for those who cannot afford that big a down payment! Nice video.

I find it hard to believe that people still think they need 20% down in order to buy a home.

Kathy Streib it is surprising what holds so many back is ignorance, even though it has been said over and over, they still think they need 20%. So, hopefully this video will help to dispel some of the myths. I have several videos in this series I am posting, today I posted about help for first time home buyers.

Richard Weeks thank you for commenting.

Nina Hollander, Broker I agree, I find many renters believe this which is why they are still renting.

Kat Palmiotti there are so many ways around not putting down 20%.

Brian England hopefully this video will help to educate a few more who might not know.
