Here's Looking At You... Poinsettia

A poinsettia that I rescued from 2019 by moving it in and outdoors has grown eyes and is looking back at me.

I am eager to see if these are blossoms or if this is just it, eyeballs.

I do not know if the teardrops are water or a nectar thing going on. I only water it from the ground (pot) I do not spray it. Can you clue me in?

Hi Bob - my father in law was great with maintaining them after Christmas.  Me?  I have a brown thumb.

One got planted outside in my mom's neighborhood and grew to 10 feet tall and blooms from time to time.  Somewhere my wife has a great photo of it.

Bob,

I have no idea what it is doing..  We don't buy them.  You may want to check our a poinsettia site on line, and I am sure they will have an answer. A

I am amazed that I've been able to keep this one alive Grant Schneider . I'm good with succulents but that's about it.

I'd love to see that photo Don Baker . Up here where the temp is usually subzero around Christmas poinsettias usually bite the dust shortly after the holiday as few know how to keep them alive indoors.

Great tip Ron and Alexandra Seigel as I had not thought about it. I also thought Roy Kelley might know. 😉

From Google...

Why is my poinsettia dripping sap?

Causes. Sap is contained within all tissues of a poinsettia. Sap oozes only when tissues are damaged, such as deliberately cutting off a leaf or trimming the plant. Disrupting the vascular tissues allows sap to bleed or secrete onto the stem or leaves.

That plant really looks like it is trying to take a major leap along the evolutionary path, Bob.
