It sounded like a great idea – refresh your blog signature. So I decided to participate. I looked at what I had and wasn’t exactly pleased. I started to wonder about what I may want to do to spruce it up. So I decided that I wanted to incorporate the lights of the Strip (since I do sell Las Vegas). So I thought I will just do that and it will be great. So I came up with my first version. This is what I had:
I actually left it that way for a couple weeks and then I decided to read the full challenge post of Craig Daniels. Now I have had a great respect for Craig for a long time. So, after reading his full post, I decided to plunge in the deep waters and really drink this Koolaid. I started by watching Craig’s video on changing your signature. As always, Craig gave great details and wonderful ideas on transforming one’s signature. So I decided to start all over again.
Now I would love to say that the experience that followed was one of the most joyous afternoons of my life. But momma didn’t raise no liar. First I began with the mindset that if half of what Ben has been telling us about all the time and money he is investing on upgrading the A R platform, then surely the tools that Craig showed will work as smooth and easily as all of my Office product that I work with (also due to Craig’s recommendation).
I started with just a shot of the Las Vegas skyline
Then I tried to place text on top of it in the tables which Craig sowed us in his video. There may be a way to easily do that, but for the life of me, I couldn’t figure it out. I went through a number of variations. Adjusting columns, adjusting rows . . . . each time coming up with a crude result. Like expecting a fine oil painting filled with exciting nuance and detail and instead seeing a picture a 3 year old had drawn with three crayons (red black and yellow).
I then started working on actually changing the HTML coding used. I went to other sources and copied and pasted code. I went through several variations on that and still kept getting crude results. Like expecting Windows 11 and instead appearing like a Windows 3.1 result (if not a green screen DOS monitor).
Finally, I gave up. The tools included in AR were far too crude for what I desired to make. So, I started over. I went and used Microsoft Office Publisher. I tweaked what I desired several times there and created a photo with text in it. When I got that to where I desired it, I placed it in the blog and then created a link on the photo so that when you click the photo, you get my web page (designed by Charra Hammett of YourSiteNeedsMe.com).
Then I proceeded to place text for readers to find my social media pages as well as links so they can get a valuation estimate on their home or to find a home in the Las Vegas area.
All in all, I am pleased with the new format that I created. As far as my other web goals for 2022, Charra Hammett of YourSiteNeedsMe.com has improved my website tremendously this year and she has given me tools to greatly increase my traffic. I have also hired a bogger for my website and soon look to hire another company to increase my social media presence.
