This blog post is dedicated to the members of ActiveRain. Its purpose is to add clarity through illustrations of what AR means to me. Thanks Debe Maxwell, CRS and Margaret Rome for the April 2022 Challenge.
As a Newbie, I really didn’t know or understand what a BLOG was but I was thankful when ACTIVERAIN offered RAINCAMP to members in 2010 the year I began blogging. I took a dive and the plunge, driving from Dallas-Fort Worth to Houston. This was a big deal to me. I’m not originally from Texas. I was relocated from Illinois. I learned quickly in my real estate career before navigational systems, looking at the BIG TEXAS SIZE MAPSCO was quite overwhelming!
Driving to Houston was a longer trip than I anticipated. But boy was it worth it! The first person I met was Kerrie followed by Joni Bailey. Later that day, after shaking the hand of Bob Stewart it was as if I touched the golden hand, and I was on my way to achieving great success and prosperity.
Over the years I learned a lot about what the word BLOG meant to me. Let me illustrate:
B is for belonging
L is for learning
O is for being open-minded
G is for giving
ActiveRain contributes to my sense of belonging, learning, being open-minded, and giving something of value to others. Having a sense of belonging is what I longed for when I left the Corporate World. Sales is hard work. Being self-employed without being born into a real estate family or being on a Franchise Team, and choosing to be a single agent paved the way to curiosity, knowledge, decision-making, inventiveness, creativity, and giving back to the community. What I learned is that by meeting and interacting with like-minded people creates balance thinking and being open minded helps me to grow mentally, physically, and emotionally. In my life, I have no time for being judgmental or to point out errors to other bloggers on ActiveRain. I care enough to contact them directly and say things in a nice way because I know, I'm not perfect.
ActiveRain is a lot like a Travel Map. This is what it means to me. You get to know a lot of people from different states, cities, including your own. For every blog post I write, I embark on a new journey and every time I read or comment, I am discovering, rediscovering, or learning something new. A great way to demonstrate who you are is by meeting up when time permits, calling other members on the phone, participating and commenting too. It didn’t take me long to realize, ActiveRain is a meaningful journey. Clearly, ActiveRain is part of my life story. My heart overflows with gratitude ---Patricia Feager
