Looking For A Rental? Please be Aware of Scammers, particularly on Craigslist!
The scammers use properties that are FOR SALE to lure renters.
If you see an offer that seems too good to be true, it probably is.
Please do NOT give anyone money without verifying their identity and checking out the property in person.
Do Not Give your Social Security Number to Anyone!
Even if they send you what seems to be a legitimate application, or professional photos, it might be a scam.
You can always visit or call a local real estate business to verify information on potential rental properties.
If you have been scammed, you should file an online complaint with the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) at www.ic3.gov
The IC3 gives victims of cybercrime a convenient and easy-to-use reporting mechanism that alerts authorities of suspected criminal or civil violations.
