Thank you, Debe Maxwell, CRS and Margaret Rome Baltimore 410-530-2400 for this April 2022 Challenge. Looking back since I started posting in October of 2008 was eye opening! I was determined to find the rain camp I attended in Houston and went back through the years and found it: it was December 6th 2010.
For me meeting Bob Stewart, Kerry Greenhalgh, Jason Crouch, Joni Bailey, Loreena and Michael Yeo, Marylyn Boudreaux and others was a game changer! Ben Kinney spoke and I won a Kindle in a drawing!
I remember well a post Margaret Rome Baltimore 410-530-2400 posted in April 2012 and she stated "I don't work for Active Rain, Active Rain works for me." This hit home with me and I realized how much Active Rain really works for me.
The people in Active Rain are the most important to me. I’ve learned from the best marketing guru’s like Barbara Todaro (she created a tag line for me), Debe Maxwell, CRS (showed me what Market Reports should look like) and so many more. It’s true you “get by what you give.”
Reading posts is like having a mini lesson every day on so many topics. Michael Jacobs posts are always thought provoking, Brian England put Vacasa on the map, Wanda Kubat-Nerdin - Wanda Can! can always be counted on for words of wisdom, Rocky Dickerson never ceases to amaze me, Carol Williams brings us selected posts we might have missed, Kathy Streib is one of our valued Ambassadors and a breath of fresh air, Craig Daniels is a wealth of technology information, we count on George Souto to remind of us Zoom meetings and provides a line to access, Bill Spear with Liz and Bill Spear always tells it like it is and the list goes on!
I originally joined Active Rain in October 2008 and never thought I would actually become friends with so many others that participate. Roxanne Ford, then a sales rep for Austin Title, encouraged me to blog on Active Rain. The mortgage crisis hit full strength so I had the time investigate the site and understand its purpose, so I jumped in! As time went on I found I could create my market reports and post on Active Rain and then I link to my community website.
Active Rain has become one of the instruments in my tool box that assures my clients of exceptional service. I interacted daily with others in the Rain, but have found I don’t have quite the time as I did before but am trying harder to continue fostering those relationships
Looking back to 2012 we started meetups in Austin that were very successful! We kept them up until 2016 and they then fizzled out. So many good people like the late Russell Lewis, Donna Harris, Gwen Carpenter, Jason Crouch, Scott Hayes, Sherry Scales, Bob Radcliff and many more.
In 2013 there was a Second Annual “Be the Star of your own movie” contest with a twist! Creating videos was encouraged and now look at YouTube Thursdays with Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD and how far we've come! The contest was fun and this was my entry:
I remember in November 2013 one of my favorite people, Joanna Cohlan and her husband, George came to visit Austin, I so enjoyed meeting them for lunch!
In 2019 my beloved Geno passed away. The out pouring of sympathy from Active Rain touched my heart.
The smorgasbord of AR members are giving and nurturing, it’s not a wonder you can find your blogging voice and excel with all the creative ideas, and ways to position yourself as a local resource!
This challenge caused me to pause and reminisce over the 14 years I’ve been a member of Active Rain. Thanks for the memories!
