On a vacation cruise last week, one of the stops of LaRomana in the Dominican Republic meant Meg and I could stop to tour the Hartman School.

The notebooks, pencils, financial aid the Houlton ME Rotary Club brought to the Hartman School was most appreciated.
Students from K-6th grades get an education on a site that was once just a LaRomana garbage dump. The stop on a cruise ship vacation works out perfectly for a pick up by Jessica who introduced us to the harder side of life away from the fun in the sun stop.
When you tour a country far from home, and see how hard the daily life is, it makes living in the USA seem so so much easier.

The Houlton Rotary Club does lots of local events to make a difference in the local community.
But the International Committee is always looking for ways to help beyond just the community borders.
