Have you ever been so focused on a situation that you completely lost sight of the mission or the lesson? A great example is found in the Bible in John 5 when Jesus asks the paralyzed man if he wants to be healed. When Jesus heals the man, the religious leaders are appalled because the healing took place on the Sabbath. These religious leaders completely MISSED the miracle because they were focused on other things.
I use this example as I see this played out in life all of the time. So many people are focusing on the mess rather than the message. For instance, right now politically, everyone is focusing on the mess of the election, the mess of COVID, the mess of one political party vs. another, and on and on and on!
It appears that everyone is zeroed in on the complete mess that seems to be all around us. Perphaps what we need to focus on is the message behind the mess. Would it be possible to bring both sides of the issue together in a manner where each party has an opportunity to discuss things in a rational manner?
How refreshing it would be if the news simply presented the news without magnifying the hatred and using narratives that divide. Wouldn't it be nice if the message was straightforward without a slant? Maybe, if those of us who are willing to remain rational, calm, and logical would start standing up to the ridiculous and obvious divisiveness, then we could get out of this mess.
A great lesson for any message is learning to listen, evaluate, and to thoughtfully respond. No knee-jerk reactions. No jumping to conclusions. Just simply taking the time to hear both sides. What a difference this world can be when we focus on the message rather than the mess!
Are you ready to take this country back one message at a time?
