Attention Real Estate Agents:
I have been talking a lot about the shifting real estate market sweeping the country recently. Truthfully, the shift started 60 days ago as the conversations with the consumer started to change. That is always the first domino to fall.
I hear a lot of fear amongst real estate agents as well as uncertainty amongst the consumer.
We must stay calm and get focused…
A market shift actually presents many opportunities and the biggest opportunity is the ability to increase your personal market share. The number of transactions in real estate will be about the same yet the number of agents going after them will likely decline. Less spoons dipping in the same pie = opportunity.
Brendon Payne and I were coaching some agents the other day and we were helping them get focused and plan for the new market conditions.
It all comes down to 3 Things…
First, you must Manage Your Mindset. The mind tends to focus first on fear. I know that’s natural but it has to be managed. The more you focus on the problem, the less you will see the solution. Rewrite your affirmations, chant them at the start of the day and surround yourself with solution-oriented people. Get involved with real estate coaching.
Second, you must Manage New Conversations. The main thing that shifts in a market is the conversations we have with ourselves and the consumer. The conversation of ‘hurry and buy because rates are so low’ no longer applies. So, conversations have changed….have you shifted your conversations yet? What you say to a buyer and seller needs to change.
And third, you must Manage Your Activities. Too often real estate agents face a shift and they freeze like a dear in headlights. When a shift occurs, shift your daily activities. We were spoiled over the last few years. We could be part-time and crush it in the recent market. We didn’t have to do much to get much. I predict that will not be the case moving forward. It’s not going to be hard, we will just need to show up each day ready to go build a business. Look at last year's habits and routines and look for areas you can improve. In most cases, just start doing what you stopped doing in the hot market. Bring back those good habits and routines.
When you manage the 3 areas above, you will be in a position to thrive. Most are hoping to survive and you will thrive. I love the sound of that but more important, I understand how to get it. I’ve been through multiple shifts and came out ahead. I will guide you through this.
Remember:
Manage Your Mind
Manage Your Conversation
Manage Your Activities
My focus in Agent Success Academy is to share with agents the process of thriving through the shift. I would love to have you in the program. For those already in Agent Success Academy…get ready!
Manage what you can control and don’t stress over what you cannot control.
If you’re in South Carolina or North Carolina and are worried about the market, send me a Direct Message and we can discuss joining our team.

We got spoiled with a bang out year last year. I think we're getting back to a more normal market, even though there are still challenges with inventory and higher interest rates. Thanks for the post.
