Ask An Ambassador: Low Hanging Fruit

Real Estate Agent with Transaction Alliance 513.520.5305 SAL.2002007747

Sometimes coming up with ideas for blogging can be a challenge, and some days there is low hanging fruit right in front of us.  It's mostly a matter of tuning in and recognizing opportunities as you go about your day to day life.

In the last 24 hours a handful of ideas presented themselves, and any or all of them could be developed into useful blog posts.

  • "You're probably going want to fire us!"  (buyers who changed course in the middle of negotiations for a resale (but purchased a new construction later the same day).
  • Both sides are judging the other side of the negotiation to determine how difficult the process might be
  • When the market pendulum is too far to one side, what happens when the side in control gets too demanding?
  • Should an agent "chip in" to bring a contract to terms?
  • What are the pros and cons of a seller rent back?
  • What if the sellers don't leave when the rent back is over?
  • What communities have the best social life for a senior buyer?
  • Where are move-in ready new construction homes for sale?
  • What's a pocket listing?
  • What one buyer hates another might love!  (filter your personal opinions in presenting possibilities)

And that's just the low hanging fruit that quickly comes to mind.

Whether I'd pursue any or all of those topics comes down to some key criteria.

Is the topic generic enough that the answer is already posted 1,683 other places?

Can I present something unique?

Does it offer an opportunity to increase our business?

Some of the topics listed would offer an opportunity to attract our ideal client, others not so much and I'd toss the non-productive ideas in the discard pile.

E.g. the best chance at long term business gathering would be an IDX page about Carriage Hill patio homes for sale.   It's long tail SEO.  It's evergreen.  People routinely drive through communities and decide HERE is where I want to call home.   Provide the information they seek and create the opportunity for a conversation that could lead to more clients.  Your competition probably is not doing the work, so there's real opportunity for agents who ARE willing to do the work.

All you have to do is harvest the low hanging fruit.

Until next Tuesday, just Ask An Ambassador if you need help,

Hello Bill... I could say this about any number of aspects of the real estate business besides blogging:

"Your competition probably is not doing the work, so there's real opportunity for agents who ARE willing to do the work."

True!  E.g. there's no way I'm door knocking.  Just not the right fit for my personality, but it may work well for some.

I generally figure a question one client asks is the same question others might want to know about.

I see a lot of blog posts that are inspired by other posts in the Rain, as someone in another area can relate a topic to what is going on in their area.

Bill I remember in the early days of blogging there was a never ending thought process of ideas for posts.  I must have said at least 5 times a day- oh now that would be a good blog post. And I'd write down the title OR maybe a photo would trigger an idea.  I still do that to this focus has changed to other projects now.

I generally never lacked for ideas when I was blogging daily.  Now whether I felt like covering a specific topic was another question altogether.

"Can we present something unique?" is a perfect question. If yes, that's a great idea for a post!

That's the issue I have with a lot of canned content, it offers nothing unique.

Hi Bill:

Lots of good ideas here that can generate others! Buyer and seller questions can be a terrific source of blog ideas, as can situations that arise in our transactions - just watch the confidentiality.

No doubt, you don't want your clients to recognize themselves in your posts if it's anything less than 100% favorable to them.

There are so many topics out there but I always go back to "I could write a book on this!".   How many times have we said that line?

I've found that when you blog regularly, ideas come flooding in. When you don't, they dry up.

2021 was a nightmare year for us here, so my blogging fell off considerably. Now that I have a little time to do more, the ideas are a bit harder to come by.

Hi Bill! Did you take that great photo of the apple? It's been a long time since I've seen one still on the tree as I grew up around them. Regarding your post, you are so right on! Wish that everyone knew the benefits of hiring an experienced Realtor. There are so many snags that could happen along the way.

May 11, 2022 01:31 PM

I can't lay claim to that photo. is my source.  We'll probably plant some apple trees when we finally move, but none yet!

You are right on point with low hanging fruit as blog fodder is all around us and it; just a matter of realizing the value and posting something with enough quality that someone would want to read it and hopefully call
