Road Trip Continued: Eugene - Seaside

By
Education & Training with Although I'm retired, I love sharing my knowledge and learning from other real estate industry professionals.

The family and friends portion of this little road trip wrapped up yesterday afternoon when I went to my cousin Linda's house in Springfield, Oregon for lunch. She made tacos including homemade tortillas. Linda, her husband, and I spent 6 hours catching up.

Sunday's travel journey involved driving through torrential rains to get to my favorite chill-out happy place... Seaside, Oregon.

The total mileage for my route was only 200+ miles but much of it was up the 101 along the Oregon coast. This is a winding road and not intended for people in a hurry, which was just fine with me. As far as I am concerned, the Oregon coast is one of the most beautiful anywhere and should be enjoyed at leisure.  This 200-mile trek took about 6 1/2 hours, lunch stop included.

My favorite spot for clam chowder is the Sea Hag in Depoe Bay, Oregon and I arrived as planned right at lunchtime. I ordered my beloved clam chowder, garlic bread a Coors light as the beverage of choice. Rocky Dickerson, just so you know, I don't always drink wine during my travels!  😊 I'm flexible like that!

Fortunately, it didn't rain hard the whole time and the sun was actually shining by the time I arrived at my beachfront hotel in Seaside.  I love this location because it has direct access to the beach and is within easy walking distance of town. I've stayed here many times before.

I do have my golf clubs with me but so far the weather hasn't cooperated. If the rain stays away Monday I may be able to play at the Seaside Golf course, not far from my hotel.  I will be here until Tuesday unless I decide to extend.

Hi Grant Schneider
They are both spectacular.  I grew up in Oregon and spent time at the beach here so I am partial to the Oregon coast.

Hi Kat Palmiotti
I would highly recommend a trip to the Oregon coast. Actually, there is a lot about Oregon you and your husband would enjoy... being the outdoorsy people that you are.

Hi Anna Banana Kruchten CRS, Phoenix Broker
I got out for a walk this morning before the rain started coming down. Then I went out to take a drive a little while ago and it was raining so hard I came back to the room.  The sun is shining again now so I might try again.

Hi Kathy Streib
No golf today. I did get out for a walk before the rain started. The afternoon turned out pretty decent but I wasn't sure if it was going to rain again or not so I didn't go.

I am in desperate need of an ocean trip, Carol.  I think I'm going to soon sneak away for a coupled days.  It's only a 100 miles from home, but in many ways, right now, seems so far away.
