The Carolina Clay Matters Pottery Guild was founded in 1994 whose purpose is to promote ceramic art in the community. The group's membership includes professionals, students, and hobbyists. Currently there are 135 members. To learn more about Carolina CCM, check out the CCM May 2022 newsletter.

“Ceramics is the oldest form of technology we have. After cooking meat, baking clay was the first thing that humans did to chemically alter our environment on purpose. You can’t make rice without cooking it in some kind of vessel, so clay pots go hand in hand with agriculture – our whole evolution is connected to it. There’s only a short period of history in which people haven’t been connected with pottery. There’s something incredibly grounding about an experience that connects you with the past like that”.

Margaret Rome Baltimore 410-530-2400 good morning, Margaret... I "played" with clay when I was in Girl Scouts... one of the troop leaders was a professional. It earned me a badge... but that was pretty much it since 1960.

I remember years ago taking up pottery Nina. Then, the intrigue was gone and although I like the way they look, I never got my hands on clay again!

Margaret Rome Baltimore 410-530-2400 and have spoke on the phone about pottery a couple of times. I used throwing pottery on the wheel as a stress relief while being corporate. It did wonders Nina Hollander, Broker

Paul S. Henderson, REALTOR®, CRS how interesting, Paul. Somehow, I never felt all that stressed when I was in the corporate world and gave little thought to do anything to relieve stress except to work out.

Paul S. Henderson, REALTOR®, CRS When I first started throwing, it was stressful. I used to take the clay off the wheel and throw it across a covered table. That's where my free-form pottery began.

Nina, these pieces are gorgeous, but shouldn't have anything right now that is breakable with these wild kitties.    They are running like crazy right now.

Joan Cox and now you know why I always adopt a grown cat... training those little "monsters" is too much and I have too many breakables in my house! Mr. M does run around like a crazy cat and does chase Bingo, but they stay on the floor! :)

I just looked out of my house, Lucy was on the handrail, and IF Izzi could get up there, she would probably fall off.  She absolutely is the biggest clutz of a cat I have ever seen!

Joan Cox I'm speechless! Haven't seen this since I had Siamese cats and I haven't had any Siamese cats since the mid-1980's.

Nina Hollander, Broker - Today is the day for the Carolina Clay Matters Pottery Spring Festival! Oh! How I wish I could attend. There is something so spiritual and moving about making pottery. I did it once in a studio in Japan and felt so alive, creative, and spiritual too. It was an experience I will never forget. I hope todays sales will excel and people buy these beautiful one of a kind clay potteries.
