St. James Long Island is an unincorporated Hamlet near the Villages of Nissequogue and Head Of Harbor. This area was one of the earliest settlements in the Town of Smithtown. Most of the larger homes are North of Route 25A and bordering the Nissequogue River. More modest homes are situated near the shopping district by Lake Avenue. This lovely quaint area is mostly a suburban Suffolk County community with individual home sites. The architectural styles vary with Colonials, Ranch, Capes, Contemporary, Cottages and some Post Modern homes.
The main shopping district along Lake Avenue in St. James is moving along with its revitalization plans and will soon welcome some new additions to this quaint shopping area.
