This post was created for Kathy Streib  & Carol Williams the two hosts of this  Active Rain Challenge to get to know a little more about us.

 

  1. What was your first job and what did you learn from it?

I worked as a grocery bagger in Gig Harbor, Washington. I learned quickly that you don’t put the eggs and or bread on the bottom of the bag…

 

  1. How long have you been in the real estate or related service industry?

Just over 23 years

 

  1. What is your biggest fear and what have you done to try to conquer it?

I don’t care for heights. I remember I went to the top of the Sears Tower in Chicago and just took my time taking baby steps to the windows. It took me about 15 minutes to go 20 feet.

 

  1. What would you do if you knew you would not fail?

I would try stand up comedy…

 

  1. What is a habit you would love to eliminate or change?

Interrupting others when I can’t get a word in edgewise

 

  1. What is your favorite meal (forget about calories or what you shouldn’t eat)

I love lobster and butter

 

  1. What is something you wish you’d done?

I wish I could have followed my dreams more…

 

  1. Who has been most influential in your life?

Too many people fall into this criteria at different times of my life. I have learned from many…

 

  1. What are your favorite business-related books?

Who moved the cheese

 

  1. Other than business books, what are your favorite things to read?

I read to my grandson over Alexa every night at bedtime. He enjoys The Hardy Boy Mysteries and Alexa allows me the luxury being by his bedside 46 miles away…

 

  1. What are your top 5 favorite movies?

I enjoyed The King and I, the original Westside Story, South Pacific, Blazing Saddles, and Good Morning Vietnam

 

  1. If I came to visit your city for one day what is the one thing I must do or see?

I don’t live in the city, I think my best adventure would be going under the Narrows Bridges on a boat and coming across a pod of Orca Whales…

 

  1. If I came to your city to visit for one day, what is the one restaurant you would recommend?

The Tides Tavern, in the Summer, on the deck in Gig Harbor Washington

 

  1. If I was going to relocate to your area what advice would you give me that is unique to the area?

 Buy Waterfront

 

  1. Do you have any special talents?

Listening

Way too numerous to mention

 

  1. What is your best character trait?

I listen even if I don’t agree with your position on a topic

 

  1. Have you ever done anything you would never do again because it was too hard or too dangerous?

Scuba dive or swim after a typhoon in Guam (too many sharks)

 

  1. What is your favorite thing to do in your spare time?

Take pictures of sunsets and/or sunrises just before it peaks out

 

  1. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you want to live?

NW Maui 

 

  1. What is something that we don’t know about you that would surprise us?

I am shy…

Hi Paul, - WOW Stand up comedy.  That is something.  I love that you can read to your grandson every night using technology.  That is fabulous.  I read to my grandson when he stays with me on Fridays overnight. Grandchildren are God's gift to us.  I only can see sunrises, there is Coffeepot Rock where the sunsets are.  It is probably a blessing in summer because we are in the shade in the afternoon!

What a fun read. I love that you read to your grandson nightly. Technology is wonderful in many ways.

I think you should try doing stand-up comedy. Bet you would be great - I sense a very dry humor and wit!

Oh Paul- thank you so much for participating!!!!!  I'm thinking you could log on early at one of our Zoom Meetings and try some stand up comedy!!!  You would have a very supportive audience1!!

I also love that you use Alexa to read to y our grandson every night. I'd never thought of using Alexa for that.

Hi Paul !  I love Kathy Streib idea of doing a little stand up comedy for the zoom meeting some time!  That would be great.  Somehow I knew you were a good listener, regardless of others ideas. Good morning, Paul... I'm amazed how many people in the Rain said they are afraid of heights (which I love). My husband is afraid, too, and yet when he was CEO of a bank in NYC, he was on the 50th something floor of the GM Building and that never bothered him having windows on two sides. I hadn't thought of Blazing Saddles in forever... you reminded my how hysterical that movie was, although these days I think the work crowd would condemn it. Interesting that you say you'd do stand-up comedy and that you are shy at the same time.

Hi Paul,
I never would have guessed you'd like to do stand-up comedy. You are always practicing your listening skills on Zoom.   I had a friend who I got together with for coffee every Monday and we had this unique way of turning our coffee sessions into a comedy hour.  It was fun. Sadly, he passed away.  Anyway, laughter is the best medicine for sure.

And, like the others I love that you read to your grandson every night. ❤️

Holy Moly, what beautiful pictures of sunset and sunrise!! Why haven't you mentioned your photography talent? Most of your inspiring quotes with stunning photographs are impressive, and that is one talent only a few can master. 

If you're shy, then I must be a hermit! One of the reasons I live in Port Townsend is that no one will come and visit me because it is such a drag to travel to this somewhat remote peninsula. 

Gig Harbor is one of my favorite places (any places after crossing the Narrow Bridge). We could meet in Gig Harbor, you bring the lobster, and I'll bring the butter! Lobster is my favorite too.

We should invite Carol Williams to our WA meetup and other folks you'd like, and we will be a fantastic audience for your standup comedy! 🤠
