For the past couple of weeks, Texas residents have had the opportunity to cast their votes to elect school board members who share their educational expectations for schools and the curriculum. Prior to Covid, school board meetings and elections had very low community turnout. Recently with the advent of virtual learning, social distancing and masking in schools, school board meetings and elections have become a "BIG attraction!"
The school board election results all over Texas were in early this week!
The Lake Travis School District (LTISD), currently serving over 10,700 students, located about 1/2 hr. Northwest of Downtown Austin elected all 3 candidates up for election who ran on a platform in favor of keeping schools open, opposing mask and vaccine mandates and supporting parental rights in education. The Lake Travis School District offered full, in-person education and optional mask-free attendance this whole school year.
As per the election results, the community has reasserted that the majority would prefer an unadulterated, full educational experience for school-age kids.
