Fun Friday: Out for a Bite to Eat

Taking the Kids Out for a Bite to Eat

We have a fair amount of wildlife, including birds, where we live, many of whom hang out in the canyon south of our house.

The quail are always fun to watch although there are periods of time when we don't see or hear them.

I saw a pair the other day with all the kids for the first time (about a dozen), and spied them again today out for a bite to eat. That's a lot of little ones to keep track of, but they were pretty good about staying near Mom and Dad. They were pretty far away so it was tough getting a decent photo, but you get the idea.

What fun that must be Lynnea Miller . We've seen a couple on the platform feeder a few times but it's been a while.

They were fun to watch Brian England  Wish they had been closer.

It feels that way sometimes Nina Hollander, Broker  There's generally lots of bird activity, unless the hawk is around.

Joan Cox  I just happened to look out the upstairs MBR bath window and saw them. I'm glad I could grab my camera before they disappeared into the bushes.

12 is a LOT to keep track of Grant Schneider  The kids seemed to stay pretty close to Mom and Dad although I suspect that will change as they get older and braver!

Hi Jeff,

We get a lot of quail also.  For the last 2 weeks, this quail pictured below has been on the ledge in front of our bedroom. He goes back and forth.  I am sure he is watching over the family but the ground cover is pretty thick and you can't see them.

So sweet seeing the family like that. We have turkey families walk through our yard certain times of the year and I love seeing the babies grow bigger as the weeks go by.
