Philadelphia Steals & Deals Inflation vs Stagnation by HelpfulHannah

In Philadelphia, it was difficult to find deals this week, but thanks to friends I managed to find some.

My friend Jessie told me about Zips the cleaners in the area that will wash comforters for $25 and put them in plastic and her's came out so fluffy and new so off I went. I spoke with the owner as another friend insisted they were going to dry clean it. He assured me they washed it and smiled, telling me to come back next Thursday. He also told me most of the labels say do not dry clean. I am thrilled to have found this service. It is that time of year to change your comforter Steal of a Deal

Total Liquidators was a store we came upon when looking for outdoor chairs we had breakfast at the Golden Eagle diner in Bristol after that we stopped by they had some great deals on air fryers and so many other things but I did find the perfect folding chair for $25 sorry I did not buy two. The one thing I must mention all sales are final everything is as-is no returns. So as I always say know your prices.

In the same shopping center was Ollies Bargain outlet  They had Dunkin Donuts Coffee medium roast flavored pods at a great price, but I am stocked up on coffee for now if they had had light roast I would have grabbed it looking back I think I should have. Who knows where prices are going and I could have made iced coffee this summer. Lots of great deals there also join online and receive coupons

This one is for Grant Schneider ILove Dooney 65% off totes with code tote but I do believe now do not hold me to it because if you need a tote that is a great deal. I think Memorial Day will be a big sale

Wacoal is having their sale ladies if you are interested I will put the website sign up and get 10% off

The last Steal of a Deal went to Second ave thrift store the second-hand store singing the song "Second Hand Rose" I dropped off some bags of clothes and shoes and decided to stop in. I was shocked as I found some tops by one of my favorite designers with the tags on them in my size. There was a man next to me going through the racks also. He looked at me and said these are not for me it is for my daughter. I laughed and said I thought you were looking for your wife. He replied I am so self-conscious thinking people think they are for me. I think you are very thoughtful. What do you care? Let them think you do not know them. He laughed and thanked me

I have been reading about  Stagflation vs. Inflation and where the economy is heading with the high prices. Right now I am just happy summer is almost here. The pool is open on weekends next week and I will be getting a healthy dose of vitamin C. We will read more about this in the weeks to come.

The heat really got to me this week not just in temperature, but also in temper. Especially when someone talks to you like you are excusing the expression, stupid when you ask a simple question. This person had me so flustered that after I hung up I still did not have an answer to my simple question and I was really exasperated that I was spoken to in that manner.   It was a Real Estate question and if she talked to me this way, how does she speak with people that do not understand Real Estate.  For goodness sake, if you are dealing with the public be kind when speaking to them. When I learned Real Estate I was told to keep a mirror on my desk to be sure I had a smile on my face as people can hear you smile and believe me they can.

Thank you Kathy Streib   and Carol Williams

Hi Hannah- I've been keeping tabs on prices here. Gas is up to about $4.22/gallon. Just a week or so ago I think the prices were just under $4.00. Most of the shopping I've been doing has been online.

Hi Kathy Streib gas here is regular $4.85 my gas premium was $5.55 I stopped the pump at $55 it was not even 3/4 of a tank and the news said it is going up daily. I spoke to Elyse Berman, PA the other day who said she spent $6 for eggs  - my friends said eggs doubled in price here.

Oh Hannah don't get me started on prices:))) I had a conversation yesterday with a staff member at Bed & Bath.... I told her I remember as a kid when my  father complained that gas went from .20 cents a gallon to .25 as we are hovering in the high $6 in Los Angeles;))Endre

Endre Barath, Jr.  I had a conversation with Myrl Jeffcoat on Facebook on the prices of gas in California .We in Philly are not that far behind you and it seems the prices are going up daily. A friend of mine refused to put more than $25 in at a time I told him he only hurt himself as the prices went up overnight

Gas here at an average price of $4.95 this week Hannah...UGH! That phone call you had would get me disgruntled too. Why all the rudeness? Will be back here next week and have a great sunny weekend!

Hi Lawrence "Larry" & Sheila Agranoff. Cell: 631-805-4400  I really do not understand why people are so rude to each other these days . It is so much easier to smile and be helpful. There are some stores I go to where people are so helpful. My niece mentioned it is like when you call Comcast sometimes it can be very frustrating if you get the wrong person or until you get a person not the computer

Good morning, Hannah... it's rare I find much to buy at Ollies except for books... those can be a good deal. HerRoom is having a 60% off sale and they carry Wacoal, as well. AS for the subject of stagflation versus inflation... I've studied enough economics and finance in business school to know we are not talking stagflation right now. It's a runaway inflation. I see it every time I go to a grocery store.

I will not go into Stagnation too heavily at this time but there are many stores talking about letting go help in fact Amazon & Walmart are two of them.  It is just in the wind.  HerRoom is interesting if online I will check my size is hard to find so I am limited to where I may purchase.😊

Hannah, I do enjoy finding that deal, but few are to be had.  Even the cat litter went up about $3 per container!   I have an extra large capacity washer, and washed my comforter a couple weeks ago, felt good.

Joan Cox I hear you about the cat litter ! There is a brand that they wanted $25 for - I will stick to my crystals - That is one thing I miss my last place had a high capacity washer and dryer. Not here  I gave that up for a great view - no regrets - but I do miss it 😄

I love the idea of keeping a mirror on your desk.  I keep a Dali picture on the wall by my desk.  It is of a father with shells in head (surprise, surprise, Dali had a problem with his dad).  It reminds me to keep humble.

I hope you only run into happy people this week.

Hi Hannah,

I am sure your readers look forward to your posts.  You do so much leg work to find these deals.

As for gas prices, I came from California so I am blessed to have lower prices in AZ.

Fortunately, I do not live far from shopping or everyday business.

I do remember a time when prices were high in CA and all the stations on the Arizona side of the border had no gas.  When we did travel to CA we would fill up at border stations but that is not a good idea now.  We had no gas so we had to stop on the CA side and paid $1.50 more a gallon.  That one hurt.

Sheri Sperry - MCNE®  I bet that did hurt that is quite a hike per gallon. Looks like baby formula is getting some relief or so they say . Getting back to gas prices it does not look like there will be much relief in sight this summer. Gas goes up overnight here.

Oh man I don't even want to get started on this beautiful Sunday on the economic policies from hell going on - at the expense of all of us.  Nuff of that.....thanks for getting out the word on good deals.  We've got a few liquidator stores here in town and over the years I've given them business for the staging end of our business. Good deals to be had here too - except for gas.  Gary's truck is beyond ridiculous to fill up. At least I have a small Lincoln so it doesn't take much to fill up = except now it's double in price or maybe higher if we start in Jan 21. But alas....not going there today.

Enjoy your pool next week!  We should be able to be in our pool within a week or two.  It's not warm enough yet as it's so deep - which keeps it cold.  But I bought a new thermometer yesterday and hoping it warms up sooner rather than later!!
