Wiring Or Wiles. . .

Whether It’s Wiring or Wiles. . .

On Saturday, I finished the most recent book by Frank Bruni, The Beauty of Dusk.  Although I have read numerous books authored by Mr. Bruni along with countless opinion articles plus viewed many interviews with him, this is not a review. I recommend it of course but who really cares what I think about books? Or anything else for that matter. But I digress.

To me it's interesting, but not necessarily unusual, when you find connections. And isn't everyday life about finding things that relate? To us, to each other and to something bigger?

Wiring and Wiles was mentioned as a description in this memoir. Moments, maybe not mystical nor magical and yet maybe both take on a special significance beyond the topic even though the mention was brief. I jotted down the phrase wiring and wiles. For memory's sake. And maybe for other reasons too.   The title of this post was a starting point for me for that reason. And the confluence of those two things.

I like alliteration in words which I have professed appreciation in the past on these pages and in real life.  Maybe because words when accompanied by actions (or behavior) mean more. Perhaps for pondering sake, they become more memorable. As the hours since finishing the book now ease into days later, they are still remembered.   Does it matter why?  I wonder.   Wiring and Wiles. Why, of course. And it's not even Wednesday. And this post is far from wordless which we identify with that day and that word on this platform. So much for being succinct. There's something else there. I think that's often the case.

The image in this post is from canstockphoto.com. Although, the image has absolutely nothing to do with the subject of the book or much of anything on my mind, I think it also "fits" the bigger message that it is being addressed. Struggle. Determination. Everyday life. And so much more too.

I have never heard of Frank Bruni, but perhaps that is because I am not much of a reader.  Is the photo the Rock, it looks like the Rock when he was younger maybe.

Hi Michael,

I enjoy reading your posts.  The pondering moments are always a delight.  I went to look up "wiring or wiles" to see if I was missing something.  Your post was top on the list.  I realized after reading a comment that it was an alliteration. Dah!  Don't be a stranger.  Your posts are always fun to read and think (ponder) about!

Roy Kelley - thanks for the comment.  I hope all is going well for you in Montgomery County Maryland.

Sheri Sperry - MCNE® - that's interesting to read about your wiring and wiles online searching expedition.  So many "conclusions" about searches can be observed.  And surmised.  Thank you for the comment.

Grant Schneider - thank you for the visit.  Hopefully the side effects or "aftertaste" of pondering aren't unpleasant.

Michael Jacobs - my Grandmother went blind very quickly. I don't know who was more frightened, me or her. I think it was me. My younger sister is going through the stages of permanent blindness. She is living in near total darkness. Find the light and staying positive when there is so much darkness regardless if we have healthy eyes or not is mandatory for the sake of survival and emotional health and safety.

Roy Kelley - I hope your day, this upcoming week and the new month bring many memorable moments.

Endre Barath, Jr. - Frank Bruni has a varied history and his relationship with food is documented with written evidence.  Although I have not read his cookbook nor tried his recipes, I am sure he can throw together a dinner party worthy of attention.

Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP - I am sorry to read about your sister's situation.  Having and safe keeping positivity in perspective is important each day especially when it appears to be most difficult.
