The Good, no Bad, and the Ugly!

By

It seems like gradual changes can happen suddenly.

The GOOD!

When I walked by this tree yesterday the buds looked like little pearls. That caught me eye because the pearls looked good. Today many of the "pearls" have fully opened and it looks even better. It also is releasing it's beautiful aroma.

The Ugly!

Even though we have only had a few day with temperatures above 50 degrees the street repairs have begun in earnest. This is the 2nd downtown project on our block alone this Spring. No wonder people are apprehensive about coming downtown.

The Good news about this project that is going on across the street from me is that it is part of a renovation leading to The City Of Minot City Hall being moved to the downtown area. Hopefully this will bring more traffic and notoriety to my son's business, The Titus & Philemon Art Gallery as well as to my own business Ward County Notary Services.

We have to get ugly before we can get beautiful. This happens often when they try to do street repair Bob 🙂

Bob like Anna Banana Kruchten CRS, Phoenix Broker  mentioned same story here in Los Angeles.... what I find ironic is they do it on busy streets during rush hour.... having lived about 15 years in Europe I noticed that they  did  road construction in the middle of the night not to interfere.... just a different mind set, Endre

And that has been one of the warmer days so far Dorie Dillard Austin TX BUT today we are supposed to have our first 80 degree day of the year. People won't know what to do.

That is for sure Paul S. Henderson, REALTOR®, CRS and sometimes they do a great job. On the other hand when they just "fix" potholes they always return the next year.

I agree Endre Barath, Jr. and I image it has a lot to do with labor union demands as well as State payroll regulations. We often do have evening and weekend work going on here BUT it is usually tied to deadline bonuses or penalties.

It seems that there is always construction going on that prohibits us from completely enjoying the roads around us.

Maybe I should add our harsh winters as a PLUS Brian England being they guarantee no road construction for several months of the year. 😃

Hello Bob,  I hope this helps bring people to downtown in Minot.  I know construction has to be done but it can effect business.  Make it a great weekend!

Good morning, Bob... here in Charlotte we've got lots of green on our trees and have had for a while... as for the construction, it's never ending.

I'm glad I've lived in my town for over 50 years and know all the ways to get around construction because it's a constant from Spring through Fall.  When I was on my trip last Fall it was interesting navigating through construction detours because I didn't know the area. Even my GPS got confused a time or two.

Will Hamm , yes it will in the end but it is a hassle now. A few years ago they totally closed Main Street to put in new sewer and water. It was a 3 year project and caused many businesses to go out of business.

I can imagine Nina Hollander, Broker with the growth of the area and a climate that accommodates year around road construction.

Great point Carol Williams . My GPS units are old and no longer updated go now I rely on Google on my cell phone which works pretty good.

Thank you Myrl Jeffcoat . While the downtown construction is a pain for all involved it sure is nice when it's completed.

Joan Cox I really love seeing the green trees once again but this year they are really raising heck with my allergies.
