This Week…Let’s Have a Knee-Jerk Reaction Towards Kindness
This is a special weekend when we honor those who served in our Armed Forces and then paid with the ultimate sacrifice.
Before you speak ask yourself if what you are going to say is true, is kind, is necessary, is helpful. If the answer is no, maybe what you are about to say should be left unsaid. Bernard Meltzer
We have also had an unthinkable tragedy in Uvalde. We are left reeling with emotions that want to strike back at what happened… find answers to what happened…blame someone or something…and make sure this stops.
Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.
Leo Buscaglia
Instead of the knee-jerk reaction to ban, fire, and blame…let’s instead have a knee-jerk reaction towards kindness.
Life is short and we have never too much time for gladdening the hearts of those who are traveling the dark journey with us. Oh, be swift to love, make haste to be kind. Henri Frederic Amiel
Kindness is something each of us can control. Each of us can share. It is within each of us.
Nothing is gained from name-calling or blaming. Nothing will be gained from turning a deaf ear to someone. Open your hearts…open your minds…open your ears.
Whatever possession we gain by our sword cannot be sure or lasting, but the love gained by kindness and moderation is certain and durable. Alexander the Great
Wishing you a beautiful weekend.
