Katrina Revisited, One year ago

By
Real Estate Agent with Gardner Realtors, Licensed in La.

Its been a long year for people who call New Orleans home. We are a hearty bunch when you look back over the past year. Many people have left but many have stayed and have had to rearrange their lifes under most difficult circumstances. Homes that we sell were peoples lives and dreams. Its the place where you raise your kids, know your neighbors, go to church, store your possessions. Its tough when your neighbors their homes and the lives they knew re gone l feel for the poor who were forgotten before the storm. You are mad, you are sad, you wonder what you can do, and you pray for someone to solve some of the problems. Its up to us who live here. We all remember what we were doing last year this time. I was on the way to Houston. You have to remember this was a regional things for a hundred or more miles to the Mississippi Gulf coast. We will remember August 29,2005 and natures fury where man was no match. We will remember those who helped and prayed for us. This photo from Mississippi says a lot.

The very first post you ever made here at AR impressed me till this day.  I can't imagine the devastation you all survived.  But more impressive still is the way so many are handling the rebuilding of your neighborhoods.

We all learn if it is to be, it's up to me.

Home is where the heart is. Pre, post, I blogged about the power Katrina my play on the Gulf Coast region. Never experiencing an event like that before, unless I can include Mount St. Helens, it would be heart wrenching to have our area impacted the way yours has Eric. Facing a major earth quake all we can do is sit and wait but I haven't read any perdictions of an event will have on our area, economically or personally. Home is where the heart is...

I can't imagine what it must be like to live through such a devastating event.  I keep those who are brave enough to rebuild their city in my thoughts and prayers.  I hope that you never have to go through anything like that ever again.

Pictures say a lot. You guys keep the faith down there.  I can't imagine what some people have gone through but I believe God can lift them out of it if they're willing to follow Him.
