Zoom Call of 6.21.22 NAR Educational Opportunities with Jim Paulson
Jim Paulson was the speaker for this week's Zoom call and his presentation was on the opportunities offered with NAR's education courses.
Jim has been an agent for 31 years and has been a recognized instructor in real estate for 28 years.
He found that taking classes while on vacation gave him more opportunities as well as allowing him to be more focused on the classes.
Taking classes online offers a great deal of flexibility but also requires ore focus as there are no distractions or the ability to ask questions.
As an irony, he felt that taking classes away from his home area gave him greater exposure to agents that could be a source of referrals down the road. His belief is they already know the agents in their area he was the agent from outside the area.
He spent time in offering his feelings on classes that are offered for Certification against Designation.
The certification classes, such as e-Pro demonstrates effort to learn more of the industry and get better familiar with that particular area of expertise.
Designation is more focused and involves membership in a group which also requires an annual fee to continue to use the designation.
His justification for getting additional education is for greater presence to the audience we seek to attract. While the initials may not mean anything to the average person, there could be enough of an explanation on our websites to give them a greater appreciation for our abilities.
This business is one of self-promotion and activity which requires constant attention on our parts to stad out from the rest.
He offered several examples in the non-real estate field, where the distinctions of greater education carry more substance to the consumer.
In each case, the more education the stronger the impression and the greater the confidence in the person.
Jim then went into a brief description of some of the classes offered through NAR and the benefits of each to a particular segment of the business.
All of which can be found by going to the NAR website or through our local state boards.
I will offer just one description that he explained in some greater detail as it is recognized by NAR, but the requirements for earning the designation are much greater than any other one.
The CRS designation, or Certified Residential Specialist is one that requires a great deal of activity in one's field with number of closed sales or sales volume as a prerequisite. The classes required for this designation are not normally those offered by NAR and are exclusively through the designation.
It is the most well respected and by way of recognition, he offered that 93% of the sales in real estate in our country are done by agents with this designation. They are good in that their referral base would also be one of a recognized expert in the area to which they would send a referral.
It was a wonderful presentation with in depth description offered by Jim.
