Friday Flags: Flag Day in Prospect CT
Flag Day was June 14, and many flags were flying to celebrate the flag as well as the day. The day is observed as a celebration of the day on June 14, 1777, the Second Continental Congress adopted the Stars and Stripes for the flag of the United States.
The first national observance of Flag Day took place 100 years after the original resolution on June 14, 1877.
Here in Prospect CT, the town had a special flag flying in front of the town Hall to honor both the day and also the students that were also leaving school to start their summer vacation.
On any day, we should all be proud to not only see the flag, but to also have it in front of our own homes.
