Oh No, Watch 3G Go!

So you may wonder why I would care if an older technology like the 3G Network bites the dust, after all my current phone uses the 5G network.

The key for me is the word SECURITY in the headline above. I've been using an app (one of many) that let's you use your old phone as a security camera. However there are many apps you can use on your old phone to make phone calls even if your phone is NOT activated onto any network.

Although this article was in our daily news paper I believe it originated with AARP.

Here are the dates that the carriers will drop 3G service.

Do you enjoy the cartoons written by my son (Timmothy N. Timm) which I use as a springboard to write my daily posts? If they can reduce their costs and at the same time cause an increase in phone sales, then it is for sure what they would do. Customer service is not as important as profits

You absolutely nailed that one Ed Silva . I was just thinking about how it made something I use totally obsolete. I guess the phone people have been taking lessons from the software people. I'd still be using DOS or Windows 95 if anything still worked on it. Thanks for reminding me... It's all about the money!

I feel your pain Bob "RealMan" Timm. I had to invest last year because my favorite apps  would not support my iPhone 6 Plus 🙃

My cellphone stopped working last December.  It would no long run on today's 5G networks.  It took a couple hours getting me up to speed with my new phone.  But, it does so much more than my old one.

Good morning Bob,

The only constant is change..the more they develop the more the drop the old and keep bringing in the new. I have to admit my 12plus is a great phone and far superior to the older models I've had.

Good morning Bob. Guess it will only be a short period of time when I have to update my phone. I have an iPhone 7 and admit to not needing more, but I guess those who sell phones are ready to tell me it is time. Wonder if "Joey" is going to subsidize pricing? He wants to dictate all else. Maybe "Hunter" will get in the phone selling business and cut the "Big Guy" in for 10%? What do you think? Enjoy your day.

Endre Barath, Jr. you would think that that would also be the case in a rural area like the Dakotas BUT it seems that this is one area that politics favor us. I'm not sure why but as they say: Don't look a gift horse in the mouth.

Myrl Jeffcoat the funny thing is that I most likely would have been overwhelmed to know all my old 3G phone could do and I'm sure my 4G phone would absolutely dazzle me if I took a full year to figure out what it's capable of. I am capable of making phone calls and texts and that is all I really want it for.

I understand Dorie Dillard Austin TX  and I appreciate a few features beyond calling and texting like the weather app but I prefer my screen time to be in front of a MUCH larger screen. 🙂

I say "Amen" Wayne Martin . I am surprised that The Big Guy has not implemented a "Render unto Caesar" tax beyond the Federal Income Tax payable directly to the treasurer (Hunter) of said tax.

I have not heard great things about 5G and it seems like my 5G phone doesn't even perform as well as my 4G phone did, haha.

Good morning, Bob... I've been on 5G with T-Mobile for so long I can't remember when I last had a 3G phone. But I did make my husband upgrade his 3G iPhone recently before he found it didn't work.

I know I have one phone that I only use occasionally that is 3G Nina Hollander, Broker and I think I paid for an app on that phone that I need to see if I can transfer to another phone.

Hi Bob- I have the 12 Pro and continue to be amazed at how the camera keeps getting better. We have an older phone that we used to use as a security camera.

Tell me more about using the old phone for a security camera. I upgraded my phone about six months ago and "they" let me keep my old phone. It got to the point that it wouldn't hold a charge for a full day, which is why I bought a new one. Feel free to PM me if you'd rather do that, Bob.
