MORE PETS ARE LOST ON JULY 4TH THAN ANY OTHER DAY OF THE YEAR!
How To Keep Your Pets Safe During July 4th Fireworks
We might enjoy the Red, White & Boom of Independence Day celebration fireworks. But your pets ABSOLUTELY DO NOT LOVE FIREWORKS! Dogs and cats are frightened by fireworks, explosions and loud noises. Their first instinct is to run away to safety. Sadly, many of the dogs and cats that escape then can't seem to find their way home and are lost forever. Did you know that July 5th is the day when most pets are reported missing? That's because more pets go missing on July 4th than any other day of the year.
So keep this upcoming Independence Day weekend a "pet-friendly" holiday. And just in case one of your four-legged family member(s) does run away, make sure they have easy-to-spot identification on them. Follow the fireworks safety tips in the infographics below and you're sure to have a paw-some holiday enjoying the fireworks while keeping your fur-babies stress-free.

Your fur-babies will paws-itively appreciate your taking a little bit of extra time to make sure they are safe and secure and away from as much noise as possible. Don't let your pet become a July 4th statistic!
The American Veterinary Medical Association provides more tips to keep your pets safe this weekend that are easy to overlook. These include:
- Too much sun and heat (and humidity!) can be dangerous to pets and we are expecting some hot and humid weather. Keep your pets inside when it’s extremely hot/humid; make sure they have access to shady spots and plenty of water when outdoors; don’t leave them outside for extended periods in hot weather. Know the signs that a pet may be overheating.
-
After the celebrations, check your yard for fireworks debris before allowing your pets outside to play. Even if you didn’t set off fireworks yourself, debris can make its way into your yard, where curious animals may pick it up to play with or eat.
-
Don't allow your pets near your barbecue grill while it is in use or still hot. And check out the 10 tips to keep your dog safe during a cookout below.
So have a paw-some Independence Day weekend and July 4th. But don't forget about your four-legged companions and about keeping your pets safe during the July 4th celebrations. Don't let carelessness ruin your Independence Day weekend with a lost pet.
