Thankful Thursdays…Thank You for Your Comments On My Post and Those of Others

In gathering posts to feature in my Sunday post I try to read many posts daily.  I don’t read every post that scrolls through the blogroll and I have to admit that I don’t always add a comment.

While wandering through the blog posts, I’ve noticed there are many who comment on posts, especially the ones who are new to this community or who have few or no comments.

Just as we all want to be heard, we want to be “read” as well.

For most of us, it takes time to write a post so comments received are always appreciated.

Of course, comments that show the reader actually read your post rank really high on the Good Comment Chart.

Also up there are comments that lead to the back and forth banter we used to have here…remember when posts were hijacked?!

Want to get yourself on the Bad Comment Chart?

~Leave a generic drive-by comment such as “Thank you for sharing this with us. Make it a great day.”

~Have no clue what the author of the blog does such as “Hope you sell some houses today.” said on my posts. I’m not an agent and therefore don’t sell houses.

~Big no-no…advertise what you do

It takes time to comment…I know…so thank you for commenting on the many posts here. It is very much appreciated.

Sadly, I think many newer agents only see the what is right in front of them. This is a network that needs interaction.

Kathy, if a post is way long, I probably did not read the entire post.   Short & sweet is good.   I like to leave comments on posts with no comments, but never see them interact either.

Nina Hollander, Broker we are so on the same page. There are times when I don't respond to comments that are made later after I initially respond but I try. I always appreciate your comments.

Buzz Mackintosh I agree with you. I  see John Pusa and George Souto often commenting on posts that have zero comments.

Michael Jacobs so true. And there are many who don't comment or respond to comments on their posts because their goal in posting here may be different from ours.

Wayne Martin I have to admit that there are times when I have to really try when commenting on a market report or listing post but I do so as a way of saying thank you for commenting on mine.

Leanne Smith it's not the best way to establish relationships here.

Dorie Dillard Austin TX I truly appreciate your comments especially when you head to the posts that were highlighted in my Sunday post.   I also admit that the posts with a wall of words is hard for me to want to read.

I agree Jeffrey DiMuria 321.223.6253 Waves Realty The interaction is what keeps this community going. The response doesn't have to be lengthy just one that shows you read the post.

Will Hamm I know and I hope that you had fun!!!!! Missed you.

Hi Kathy,

Like you and Nina, I really appreciate all comments left on my blog. I do my very best to answer each of them.  Even if they are "drive-by" comments. The way I look at it is they took the time to come to my blog, I need to take the time to leave a comment.  There are some that I leave a comment on but they don't always reciprocate.

Kathy I remember the days when blogs were hijacked, and everyone jumped in on the fun.  I remember some of them having well over 200 comments.  TLW was famous for doing that.

What a lovely photo for this post Kathy!  I love it!  And this is a good primer for those who want to be more involved in our community and aren't quite sure the best way to go about it.  For sure - stop the drive by comments!   As for hijacking  post - we haven't done that in a long while.  Let's do it!

Haha! One member at least fessed up to being a drive-byer, sometimes it's all they have for the day, Kathy! Many days are filled with work but I do try to be thoughtful when commenting. Thank you for stopping by to visit mine as well!

It is the comments that make ActiveRain a community.  Otherwise, with posts alone, there is a feeling of broadcasting to empty space.

Hi Kathy,
I do try to make a pertinent comment when I reply to a post. I've been remiss lately due to limited time in the Rain. When in a hurry, I read (bookmark those I want to Feature in SCS) and move on.
