PREPARING FOR A FESTIVE INDEPENDENCE DAY

Today, July 3, 2022, the music fest and fireworks have returned to Kensico Dam Plaza.  As I am writing this I know it is a madhouse there.  However, we live close enough to see the fireworks from our house.

I am so glad that we can because there is limited parking, carpooling is being recommended.   Nevertheless, if you get there, admission and parking are free.

People who go can bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating as well as a picnic supper.

The Music Fest is presented by Westchester County Parks and sponsored by Captain Lawrence Brewing Company and the Westchester Parks Foundation with support from radio station 100.7 WHUD.

I just finished up making the potato salad for tomorrow.

This is always a hit at our 4th of July picnic and I don't want to disappoint.  The color you see with the potatoes is crumpled bacon.  It is mean to serve hot so I transferred it to a steam tray and will put out warm tomorrow.

That is convenient for you that you can see the fireworks from your home!  I have never known potato salad to be served warm, that is interesting to me.

Good morning, Grant... how special to be able to see fireworks from your own backyard. People who live in Mt Holly near the US Whitewater Center can also enjoy them from their decks.... but sadly this year they eliminated the fireworks. Good morning Grant. The wife and I will be listening to the fireworks from our balcony but viewing will be limited thanks to all the new construction here in downtown Chicago. My son will have excellent views of the fireworks at Navy Pier. Enjoy your view!

Oh, what fun, Grant! Your potato salad looks delicious! We have enjoyed large fireworks displays from our deck and dock for the past 2 nights and I'm sure tonight won't disappoint either! The people at the lake do a better show than most of the city shows in our area - it's crazy good, especially as it reflects over the water.

Music festivals and fireworks displays are great ways to celebrate the 4th. I'm with you, though, it is nice when you live close enough that you don't have to drive to the venue. I absolutely love Debe Maxwell, CRS view from the lake. I was on vacation last week, and while at the beach, we enjoyed an unexpected fireworks display at 9 pm. All I had to do was walk out to the balcony and we had quite the show.

PS: You had me at bacon. :)
