A Respite From Summer Heat

When my kid, Jill called and suggested we park our chairs on the grassy area in front of the gazebo in Lions Park in the heart of the City of Folsom last evening, I knew if I responded positively, the end result would be for the greater good. And, so it was!

Multiple summer concerts available throughout various communities in the Greater Sacramento region offer delightful respite from summer heat and global indignations.

Last night's concert featured the group, Township, a county rock band. It was kind of cool sitting there on the lawn, while sipping a little wine, munching on chicken wraps and chocolate chip cookies, while listening to tunes like Sweet Home Alabama. And, especially Folsom Prison Blues, while we were actually in the town where the prison is!

The band group, Island of Black and White is scheduled to perform on July 24th. Here's a link to the Folsom Summer of Music website:

How fun! As long as the evenings are cool enough to sit outside, I wouldn't mind going. How far is Folsom from where you live? Within an hours drive perhaps?

When I was a teen, dating a girl from Rocklin, I used to drive up from San Mateo and go to Lions Park, The American River and of course Folsom Lake. 20 years later I found myself visiting Folsom to connect with my son who'd moved to El Dorado Hills. I'd stay at the Folsom Marriott off HWY 50. By the way - two unrelated stories LOL - my son wasn't a result of the Rocklin girl. 😆
