Really?
I am still very new to Activerain and have written a few blogs. Some of them were heart felt blogs that I really needed to write and some of them were brief points that I wanted to make. Either way, though I am sure that I have ruffled some feathers along the way. My question is: how many allies gave I made versus how many detractors?
I am a pretty opinionated guy and I know that I can be offensive sometimes, at best. Is blogging really gonna help my business when I offend people? And how many people have I offended? When I say offended, I mean to say that I may have offended their values or sensibilities, not personally (at least I hope).
I have read on other blogs how people here have actually converted their blogs into clients. I am impressed. I have also noticed how many blogs here are more informational and light than mine are. i do appreciate those blogs and find most of the information help full. The light ones are always welcome. Who couldn't use a mid-day pick-me-up joke or cartoon.
My blogs just happen to be controversial. I can't help it. Those are the topics that I find interesting enough to write about. My brother calls me blogbaiter (as in fish baiting). I don't plan to be like that, it just works out that way.
I love to blog and engage in meaningful conversation, even debate, I don't love turning potential clients off. I don't vote for the guy I like best (although most Americans do), I vote for the smartest guy (usually). It's not always easy to tell, but my point is that a good conversation, to me, indicates smart people are having it. It doesn't matter to me if those smart people always agree with me or not, the fact that they are smart is enough for me to want to do business with them.
So I am curious what experiences others have had with this. Do blogs really turn into clients or just critics?
