Sedona Fur Babies!

I don't know if it is the monsoon weather,  but we have seen a couple of visits with our wild and crazy fur babies.  These two videos were shot just in the last couple of days.

I think the raccoons fell off our wall while trying to get into our neighbor's garden.  When one falls, the others are right behind.  I heard their little screechy voices.  They tried climbing back on the wall outside our hidden office window.

Yesterday, I saw a couple of white-tail deer walking down the street during my walk.  I didn't have my phone ready to go, so no pics or video.

This morning I was walking, and these two Javalina came out of nowhere.  They were eating the leaves on the low-hanging branches.

I hope everyone is having a great Sunday!

Sheri, I haven't ever seen a javalina, and would be afraid.  Do they attack humans?

Hi Joan Cox - I saw how they were trying to lift the outside screen of the window and it freaked me out!  (But they are cute!)

Hi Jeff Masich-Scottsdale AZ Associate Broker,MBA,GRI - We see a lot of Javelina, but these came  up from a wash a few feet from me.  They were more interested in munching leaves, though!

Hi Roy,

Enjoying the wildlife is one of the little things we enjoy in Sedona.

Hi Nina Hollander, Broker - LOL on the private zoo!  However, there is no bars or walls to stand behind. On the other hand, it is so interesting to see something new just about every other day.

Hi Wayne Martin - I remember the days before we put up chicken wire on our gate.  The javelina would enter the courtyard and pull every flower out of my garden.

Hi Kat Palmiotti - Most people think they are part of the pig or wild boar family.  They are Collard Peccary.  The closest relative is the Hippo. The are near sighted and have a good sense of smell but they do stink when they are wet.  They smell kind of like a wet farm might smell.  They will usually run away from you unless they are in fear of their babies.

Hi Brian,  This is so true! Both the sqeal of the raccoons and the javelina are unmistakable.

Hi Ray Henson - We lost sight of them in the video and my husband went outside to see if they were ok.  They climbed back up to the wall.  There is a wedge between the house and the wall that they could maneuver up.

Hi Will Hamm - They made a spot behind our wall where they could rest.  One of the moms used that area as a birthing area.  We have seen the babies just a few hours old.

Hi Lawrence "Larry" & Sheila Agranoff. Cell: 631-805-4400 - Javelina are very skittish.  They can't see well and they will run the other way.  They startled me because they came out of a wash about 5 feet from me.  They eat fruits, veggies, flowers, and leaves.

Hi Joan Cox - No, they generally are afraid of humans.  They don't see well and are very skittish.  Try to take their babies and all bets are off! Haha

Hi Sheri - we had raccoons around our home.  I didn't want to accidentally corner one of them.

OH how COOL, Sheri! Like you, any fur babies have a special place in my heart!

As for the Javalina - you made me go to the dictionary and sent me down a long "Javaline hole" as I have never heard of them. I learned something new tonight so, THANK YOU! Very interesting creature!
