Methods of Attachment. . .

Methods of Attachment

It is generally accepted that property falls into categories classified as real or personal.  In real estate, methods of attachment may enter the discussion. Of course, in everyday life, attachment can be both real and quite personal. And simultaneously too.

In this regard, the world of realty may seem to be straightforward.  Once again “generally”.   It seems to me in real life - customarily, conventionally and similar words don't always come into play in everyday practice. I digress. Yet again.

We connect to our memories and all sorts of information in our minds in different ways.  Some may have been a part of our lives for a long time.  In and away from reality. Not to be confused with realty, mind you.

What makes something memorable?  Yes, I wonder about how (and why too) our sense of history becomes attached to us.  And where do we find these memories and recollections when they may not have been so recognizable just a moment before?  What's on my mind? Who knows? Just a random thought or two on a Tuesday.

Michael, the Active Rain Philosopher or word smith.... maybe you should consider writing a Philosophy book and you might be remembered thousands of years from now like Marcus Aurelius, Endre

Anna Banana Kruchten CRS, Phoenix Broker - "Accentuate the Positive" comes to mind when I read your comment.  Fortunately, I will keep the thought to myself as no one should be subjected to those vocal stylings.

Endre Barath, Jr. - it's interesting to me to see what is remembered and why.  As far as leaving published proof - who is to say that thousands of years from now what will be thought when ActiveRain posts are discovered by those looking for evidence of  "life" in the early 21st century.   Hmm. . .

Hi Endre - Endre Barath, Jr. thinks rightly that this is philosophy and I agree but also it is also psychological.  The former was never my strong suit and the later I have had some experience.

Hello Michael Jacobs, once again a interesting topic for us here in the Rain.  I wonder sometime of what to let go of and what to keep.

Hi Michael,

When it come to bringing memories to the surface, I have found that the trigger is the sense that is the strongest associated with it. Generally, the sense of smell, sight, or taste, and sometimes sound strikes first to help resurface the memories.

Grant Schneider - your comment makes me think of the saying about the cards we are dealt.  It's how we play them that matters.  Or something like that.

Will Hamm - that's a big pondering possibility.

Sheri Sperry - MCNE® - I believe you are correct in your comment.  Senses definitely play a part.  Sometimes much bigger than we might imagine.

Good and bad...memories have a way of popping in and surprising us sometimes. It can be funny what triggers them...sometimes the silliest of things.

Good evening Michael,

It's always a surprise when memories pop into the mind. They can be triggered by so many things and sometimes just manifest themselves for no reason. Often when talking with others who share part of a memory new things are uncovered.

Dorie Dillard Austin TX - memories are always interesting to me.  What was remembered, differences in them by individuals as well as what they can influence.  In the current day, in the past as well as in the future.

If several people experienced the same event side by side, the memory would be recollected differently for each one. Perspective guarantees that, Michael!

Not everything is joined at the hip, bolted to the wall and the personal property we deal with in real estate sales can hold way way more attachment than our buyers/seller think it should Michael Jacobs ! Neat play on words.
