One of the fun things Members on ActiveRain get to do is to participate in a monthly Challenge. This month, Ray Henson gave us two choices and one included a Q & A to learn more about the membership. I already submitted my Fish Story and so here goes to learning more about me. Ray and Margaret Rome asked questions of all members and below are my answers to their questions:
We all go on vacation to get away from it all and have a great time, but I want to know, what vacation day was your worst? It depends. I could think of one vacation when it rained every day. Rather than say it was the worst one, I prefer to say it was the best because I didn’t realize how much I needed to rest. Rather than go out and explore like a tourist, and spend money in restaurants and things I didn’t need, I stayed in the cabin and relaxed. I enjoyed mediating to the sound of the rain, reading great novels, like Old Man and the Sea, drinking lots of hot tea by a wood burning fireplace, and writing letters to long overdue friends.
What would be your bucket list vacation or, if you have already taken it, tell us about it? I would like to go back to Maine to meet up with my son and daughter and their families to enjoy a family vacation. My children and I are very familiar with many areas of Maine, but never stayed at the Wolf Cove Inn in Poland, Maine. To learn more, you would need to Google or click on the above link. Or if you just want a quick overview, here is what is published:

If your ActiveRain friends were to visit you, would you prepare dinner for them or would you take them to the best pizza joint in town? What would you make or where would you go? No, I would not cook. I would take my guests to the restaurants of their choice and listen to their stories and life experiences.
We all know that Canadian bacon and pineapple are the best toppings for any pizza. If you can’t have those toppings on your pizza, what would you choose? Cheese. Just cheese.
What is your favorite ice cream flavor? Vanilla (real vanilla).
What is your beverage of choice with dinner; beer, wine, iced tea, a cocktail, or …..? Purified water with lemon on ice (never tap water) followed by a good cup of coffee or hot tea.
Do you prefer going to a concert, the theater, or a big sporting event? Who or what would you be watching? Concert. Andre Bocelli, preferably in Italy. I have attended his concerts multiple times in Dallas. Second choice the theater.
There are so many great festivals across the country. Is there a special one in your area? Pictures are encouraged. The Christmas Festivals is what others enjoy the most.
What is your greatest sporting accomplishment, hitting a hole in one, bowling a perfect game, hitting the game winning shot, etc.? When I worked at Abbott Laboratories at Abbott Park, IL I joined the Abbott Rabbit Running Club and received a Plaque for Abbott Rabbit of the Year. I hope you will take my word for it, because it really is true. The most exciting relay I ran was called River-to-River with a Team of Abbott Employees from the Mississippi River to the Ohio River. As each member ran through the finish line at their own pace, the bell on a Church tolled and people who gathered from many different cities and states clapped and cheered us on. It was the most exhilarating experience of my life!
In the list of participants near the bottom of this photo under Corporate Handicaps lists Abbott Rabbits. Being part of the Corporate Club gave me a true sense of belonging. My kids knew this because before their father passed away, I was just mom, who never did anything for myself outside of the home. When they heard about it, they made me this Certificate and it still hangs on my wall. Although I have collected many trophies and Diplomas before after this River-to-River Relay that began in Southern, Illinois in 1994, my true greatest achievement of all times was raising my children, after all, when you're a mom, your eyes always have to be on the ball and you must be one step ahead of them. In some ways you can say, we always supported each other to get to our goals.
Are you a pet person? If so, names and pictures are a must! I do not own pets anymore. My grand dog and grand cats are adorable! For security reasons, I will only disclose only their initials. Below are B & Z my domestic Grand cat and dog.
Below are my International Grand Cats B & C.
What is your favorite thing to collect, or do you prefer to keep things simple and clutter free? Or what is your decorating style? I collect books. I decorate to capture the arts or things that mean something to me.
What job did you have just prior to making the switch to real estate and has it helped you in your real estate career? (Courtesy of Jeff Dowler, CRS) Human Resources/Staffing (Being in the people business was an easy transition to Real Estate.)
When you are writing on ActiveRain, who is your audience and why did you choose them for your audience? (Courtesy of Margaret Rome Baltimore 410-530-2400). I am conscious of who my audience may be. No matter what I write, I am cognizant of what other people may think and I try to post articles that are educational, inspirational, or something of value. I always enjoy reading positive comments or receiving feedback. My goal is to be respectful of others by commenting with sincerity and all I ask for is mutual respect.
What makes you the real estate agent of choice in your area? I am not a quitter. I listen as best I can to understand. I believe in truth and honesty. My client base are typically previous clients and referrals.
What is the most outrageous action that a client has ever asked you to perform? To pet sit for multiple pets on a continuous basis for long periods of time.
We show a lot of homes in our profession. What is the most interesting home or, item in a home, that you have encountered? The most interesting home I showed had a very prestigious library in a very modest home. On the walls were numerous photos framed behind glass. The series began when the owner was a very young man shaking hands with Presidents Dwight D. Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George H. Bush, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush. At the time I showed this home, President George W. Bush was in office. The reason why he was selling was because he retired from politics.
What are your three favorite neighborhoods in your area and what makes them special? Bridlewood (golf course/horses). Wellington (a family community that promotes good health). Bella Lago (luxury homes).
We all love client testimonials, but is there one that really made you feel special? We would love to see it. Just in time! I received this review yesterday!

Simply the Best!
We used Patricia multiple times when we lived in the DFW area and we wouldn’t use anyone else. She goes out of her way to meet your availability and she became part of our family over the years. She has her clients best interest in mind. She doesn’t pressure her clients at all and she was always willing to engage in in-depth conversation while you weigh the pros and cons of the buying and selling process. We would highly recommend her.

What is your favorite volunteer work or charity? I give donations to St. Jude’s Children Hospital after every closing. I also donate for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
What does the flag represent to you? When I see a flag, I think of the many sacrifices made by my grandparents who immigrated to the United States and the many wars my relatives and spouse fought in which included WW1, WWW11, Korea, Vietnam, Iran, and Afghanistan. An American flag represents Human Sacrifices, Freedom, Liberty, and Patriotism.
When we discuss life, my dad always says he is not sure what he would like to be when he grows up. He is 77! What do you want to be when you grow up or are you already in your perfect profession? The three oldest living members of my family are two sisters and myself. Ray, none of us are as old as your dad. I still have a lot of work to do. Until I perfect my profession, I want to be supportive, healthy, respected, and fiercely independent until the day I die. Although there won't be a Memorial Service or funeral for me, I would like to be remembered with kindness, if remembered at all. Until then, I'm a mover and shaker in the real estate industry.
