Websites

By
Real Estate Agent with ERA Wilder Realty, Inc

Just wondering because several (2) Company's called be about websites yesterday. I do not have a website and being new in Real Estate I know you need to get your name and image out there. But I do not want to be one of those agents that gets into so much debt that this is not a successful job for them.

The two Company's that contacted me yesterday were eNeighborhoods and Z57. Does anyone know about this company's (good or bad) or can recommend another Company.

Carl,

if you can do it.. Do the website yourself. Sometimes when you go thru someone like GoDaddy.com, it gives you a template you can use if you're new to making web pages. If you do a google on free website templates, you would be able to find templates you can just sub in your own information..

I'm currently paying 5 bucks a month for my website hosting. 9 bucks for the domain for a year.

We just got a godaddy account for my wife last night and we're paying under 20 bucks for a year for a .com .net and .info... I'm going godaddy soon..

But I personally wouldn't go with website marketer because I don't have the funds for it...

CraigProctor will show up in your mailbox soon enough. I find their websites tacky with a bunch of flashing gifs and stuff.  But it's up to you, what you're comfortable doing and how much time and money you want to spend on it.

Eric,

Thanks a lot. I will go check out godaddy here in a second. I know a few people in my office use Z57 to include my BIC so I thought I woud try to find out everyone else's opinion to it.

   Again thanks.

I did very extensive research recently to find a good real estate website provider and a host. Rappid listings is the best and cheapest is out there. You get everything you need - free, domain name, list your listings, contact me forms, open houses, even IDX at $35 per month or less after you start to refer people. Start up fee is $90 but you get half off if you are refereed by someone like me. E-mail me and I will send you a link. You can check my website at Http://www.EditesHomes.com I had other websites before, but non of them looked so clean, professional and had so many features. Good luck!

Edite,

Thank you very much. I just e-mailed you. My e-mail is Your.Realtor.4life@hotmail.com. However can you personalize the site to fit you or are they all pretty much set? Again thank you.

You are welcome Carl! I just send you an invitation through the system. There are many nice templates you can choose from, you can upload your logo and name on it. I believe, for a fee it is possible to personalize even more. You will have to contact them directly and ask about that. Here is my reference number you might need to enter it in order to get $50 off the set up fee: 11384

I forgot to tell you, this website comes with 5 e-mail addresses with your domain name, so you wont need to use hotmail anymore! :)

Carl,

Thanks for joining the group and posting. I created my own site. I found that a number of the site marketing by organizations that target Realtors, did not get significant traffic and did not have high Google page ranks. I pay $9.95 per month and drive traffic via blogging, business cards, home buying seminars... where I lecturer and lawn signs.

Several people in my office have Z57, to include my BIC, so I have a meeting (online) with them saturday. I am not sure if that is were I am going to have a site, I would rather not waste anymore money until I get off and running in this business, however with this day and age I think you need a site to almost indicate to the client / customer that you are "a professional".

Hi Carl - I just this week purchased a site through z57.com .  So far am happy with them - I still haven't tweaked all my pages, as there are so many (main reason I haven't been on AR much this week!) but was pleased to find that the templates are not so cookie-cutter.  I chose to do the "Big Picture" template, which does a slide show, and I was able to make it "really mine" which was important to me.  Here is where I've gotten so far: www.lizfindsmehomes.com .  And by the way, I would be more than happy to take any constructive criticism as I am still in the process of setting it up! Good luck - I hope you get this before your meeting with them tomorrow! Liz Foley, ERA Masiello

Liz,

That is a pretty nice site. Did they provide those picture our are you just that good with a camera? I know z57 is probably more expensive then the free sites (godaddy, etc...), but with this being my second job (I am also active duty military, U.S. Army) and having 4 children that want and need dad's attention the minute that I step through the door; I really do not have a lot of free time to try and build a website. I really do not have a lot of extra money either so I guess I better go and sell some houses.

I wish I was that good with a camera!  I went to a site someone on here had told me about, and then z57 mentioned it also.  It was istockphotos.com - I paid about $60 for a set amount of credite, and with that, was able to pick and choose pics that suited me.  I made something called a "lightbox" which is basically your file to save things in, and then picked through those to find stuff that was all Maine-related.  I could have done a static picture instead, or else picked from about 200 website templates that z57 offers.  It was a little more expensive this way, but I like having some say in what goes on it - Realtor.com I didn't have any real leeway.

THanks for the compliment - it basically took me a day to get through all the pics and remove some stuff I didn't want on mine.  Still have tweaking to do, but for now it works.  Good luck - Liz

Liz,

I talked with David from Z57 last night. Someone is suppose to call me on monday for 10 minutes and then there is like 3 other phone meetings (according to david). My site is suppose to be up and running in 10 business days. Well see. Hopefully it can provide some leads, now I just have to get to the office and try to borrow some listing so that I can have them posted on there.

Hi Carl - that's just what I did as far as the listings go - I have 6 o my own, but another girl in the office has 19, so I am adding hers to the site to give it more umph.  We worked it out that I would get the buyers and she of course gets her listings sold, so it's all good.  Good luck - have fun.  It's a little intensive, but I think I will see respite in about a week!  Liz

Liz,

I have only been a Realtor for about a month now, put hopefully I am setting the right foundation for a successful career. To me right now......6 listings seems like you are kicking butt. Again I am new, but good job.

Hi Liz,

I pulled up your website but the pictures wouldn't come up. I tried it on my husbands laptop and they wouldn't come up either.

Hi Liz,

I pulled up your website but the pictures wouldn't come up. I tried it on my husbands laptop and they wouldn't come up either. You could go from page to page. But it didn't show the house pictures either.

Hi Marie - I actually didn't renew the Z57 site, so it is now inactive.  Only reason (besides economics!) for not renewing was that the local MLS is now providing them as a function of our searches so didn't need to.  I have tried to disable that site entirely, but so far to no avail!  Thanks!
